An 11-year-old boy was fatally shot in Houston after a prank in which he rang the doorbell of a home and ran away, police said Sunday.

The boy had been ringing doorbells as a prank late Saturday evening, the Houston Police Department said in a statement. Commonly referred to as “ding dong ditching,” the prank involves fleeing before someone inside the home opens the door. More

  1. Frustrating antics?? Yes, but not quite worthy of a death sentence.

Home owner must have been a liberal, commie that can dish it out but can’t take it.

Solution?? Get rid of the door-bell. And the commie.

  2. “Play stupid games…”

I didn’t expect to see a comment like that here. It would lead me to believe Biff Slappenhertz is all in favor of raising little boys like girls.

  3. Not good, andnyes, there was an adult present. He(?) was an idiot.

Pucking of nits: Why is the Story under California, and the location given as “Houston”? There are multiple cities/towns name Houston. Buy a quick search does not give Texas as a possible location.

  4. If this is a nightly occurrence at the house, I can see why it would piss someone off that much. But if this is the first time it happened, then it’s a grossly irresponsible overreaction. Plus, you can only shoot in self defense. A stupid little brat running from your home after ringing your doorbell is hardly life threatening. I’m wagering someone is going to prison over this.

  5. “I didn’t expect to see a comment like that here.”

Sites like this always attract hit-and-run comments. He is not a regular and has not earned the right to be taken seriously.

I’m assuming that the two (boy rings doorbell, boy shot dead) are related, but nothing in the article, aside from ,”police are investigating”, connects the two.

    Still, very sad.

  6. Thanks Rich, After raising a total type A boy who use to sneak out of our house on the week ends to play door bell ditch in our gated community I’m not sure he would have deserved a death penalty for it. I’m not a big believer in Red Flag Laws and then I run into people like this.

  7. Not my doorbell, and not my kid.
And I didn’t kill him, either.
For the record- I absolutely do not believe killing ding dong ditchers is justified. (IF that is what happened- the article is unclear on details.)

    So, get off my back.

  8. “ding dong ditching” I used to take care of a good friends’ passel of kids(5) occasionally so he & his wife could do or go whatever for a couple days. First thing they’d do when they got to my place was go n—r knocking.

yeah they were black and that’s what they called it. It’s harmless and any AH shooting at a kid for it is unhinged.

  9. I don’t understand the appeal, but my son thinks it’s the absolute height of fun on any given “Boys night.” I have repeatedly warned him about the possibility of his antics not being well received.
I am much less interested in some asshole going to prison than I am in my son becoming the man that God has called him to be. So, “NO MORE DDD!” I yell as he runs out the door. Only to have him return and tell me what a great time they had pissing off the neighbors. 🙄
