23 Comments on His Whole Department Was Eliminated

  1. I worked for the federal gubmint as an intern while in college.
After one and a half years I was absolutely convinced I would go insane if I took a job there after graduating. Just about everyone did what ever they could to not actually do any work.
    80-20 rule to the extreme.

  2. What’s really funny to me about this is the end of the saying:
“…if a wood chuck COULD chuck wood.”
A perfect example of government waste – spending our money researching something we know is a waste of time.

  3. I am Canadian and worked 2 summers in the early 1970’s as a relief government worker. The only time you saw any work being done was every second Fiday when the paycheques were handed out. Now with direct deposit, you do not even see that!

  5. He’s still a close friend from many, many years ago, he was always lazy and just did the minimum to get by in school, etc.

Just out of high school, he got a job with the city water department.

  7. My Canadian ex-gf worked in Ottawa for the Ag department. She said her job was “counting cows”.

There is still the great challenge to determine if Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers how many pickled peppers did Peter Piper pick?

  8. Nowut Ameen – in Quantum Mechanics, you won’t know if he did or how many he picked until you collapse his wave function to observe him. If he works for government, that involves laying him off!!

I’m having home-grown, pickled jalapeno peppers on my eggs for breakfast. It’s been a good pepper year.
