YouTube Agrees to Pay President Trump $24.5 Million Settlement Over 2021 Suspension of His Account

YouTube agreed to pay President Trump a $24.5 million settlement in his lawsuit against the tech giant for banning his account in January 2021.

President Trump previously filed a lawsuit against YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook after the tech giants banned his accounts following the January 6 Capitol riot.

“We’re demanding an end to the shadow-banning, a stop to the silencing and a stop to the blacklisting, banishing and canceling that you know so well,” Mr. Trump said in July 2021. “I am confident that we will achieve a historic victory for American freedom and at the same time freedom of speech.”

Trump’s lawyers asked the Court to prevent the tech giants from “exercising censorship” or “editorial control” over the posts of a US president. read more

  1. But does that include the lawyer fees for all the claimants?

There should be a class action for the bloggers and websites. They even banned and limited some lefty sites who were complaining about the covid crap under Biden, too.

That would be a helluva opening volley that would represent some real, consequences. 12.5 Mil or even 100Mil doesn’t put a dent in Utoob’s bottom line! Just like laws mean nothing without enforcement, penalties mean nothing without meaningful penalties!

  4. Edit: Just like laws mean nothing without enforcement, penalties mean nothing without meaningful penalties!

I meant to say Just like laws mean nothing without enforcement, penalties mean nothing without meaningful consequences!

I get that fake complications, so pay me, are what the proudly corrupt courts do. The business model.

But the “solution” is simple. Has been repeated for years. Yet Congress refuses to do it’s job.

“Carriers”, those that relay “packets” (Internet, mail, etc.) have no legal responsibility for what they move. (Unless explicitly ordered by a corrupt court of putative jurisdiction, not to.) “Publishers”, who choose themselves, what they will make available (because “N”GO rights are human reights) are responsible for what they publish. Those that decide, sans corrupt court order, what they will publish should have no 230 immunity. None at all. All Congress need do is clarify that.
