Alberta movement to secede from Canada just got a big boost

A separatist movement brewing in the Canadian province of Alberta is reportedly backed by the Trump administration.

The leader of the separatist movement, lawyer Keith Wilson, confirmed this to TheBlaze founder Glenn Beck on Thursday.

“My understanding from the meetings that have occurred [between his people and the Trump administration] is that the Trump admin officials have indicated that the US would recognize a vote by the people of Alberta to become independent,” he said. read more

  1. If Quebec hasn’t gone yet, it might be because Ottawa has said the gravy train would end if it did — which Quebec can’t afford. As it is, Quebec has much more sway than it should. They threaten to hold their breath until they turn blue and Ottawa always caves.

Alberta, on the other hand, has the deep pockets that Ottawa depends on while Ottawa spits on it. If Alberta decides to split, what is Ottawa going to do about it? Send in the Army?

  2. I support any people who understand the concept that government’s legitimacy and moral right to use state power is justified and lawful only when consented to by the people over which that political power is exercised, ergo, the people can revoke that consent.

I still hold out for the implementation of Greater Idaho.

  3. I’m all in favor of Alberta seceding and joining the U.S.A. as state #51! The attitude of most of the residents seems to align well with ours, and all those natural resources would be great to have access to.

When/if Alberta joins us it will be very interesting to see how the two countries handle the new borders. Canada would become almost two non-contiguous parts, east and west connected through the very sparsely populated Northern Territories.

Plus the U.S. and Canada would have to decide how to handle the control of the extensive new border. That would be close to 2,000 miles north from Montana to Northern Territories, then west, then south to Idaho. It might take a bit longer to get from Regina to Vancouver, though, if the border’s tightly controlled (as it should be).

  4. And make the U.S. bureaucracy even bigger? Better they just secede and become independent. Oil, agriculture, and minerals + freedom from Ottawa – with the U.S. and Canada as trading partners. Go ahead, make a few states here jealous!

  5. Anyone traveling to or from BC to the other “provinces” would have to have permission to travel through Alberta. Ought to be interesting, unless it secede as well. Saskatchewan and Manitoba are making noise as well. There room for 4 more stars, I reckon.

  6. If that happens, Canada will collapse. It is held together in the middle, around Kenora, Ontario, by two railroad lines and a single two-lane highway.

If followed by the other provinces and territories and they join the US, the US doubles its natural resources. The UK and its commonwealth (Can, Aus, NZ) is a dead concept. It’s of little value anymore.

    I say DO IT.

  7. The U.S. Should support any freedom seeking people’s Independence. Particularly people on our borders who share our traditions and values.

After independence, if they petition to become a territory/state of the U.S, I will wholeheartedly support these Alberta Freedom Seekers.

  8. I have an Alberta Flag hanging in front of my house. It replaced the F@CK TRUDEAU after C@ck Breath left.
PATHETICALLY, MOST of my LEFTIE neighbors didn’t know what flag it was.

That is why ALBERTA wants to leave.
They Contribute BILLIONS to the Canuckistan economy, most of that gets to QUEBEC & subsidizes the PIGS that vote for the LIBERALS.

It is not America or Trumps fault, it is that they have been abused, robbed, & unrepresented.
