It’s Banned Books Week, the celebration of blue-haired librarians cosplaying as champions of the First Amendment against evil conservatives who dare question the appropriateness of sexually explicit, pro-trans literature for five-year-olds. To summarize some of the silliness ably highlighted by NR’s Vahaken Mouradian on the subject: No “Banned Book” in America is actually banned; we still have an operative First Amendment, and every book on the American Library Association’s list of the top ten “Challenged Books” of 2024 is readily available on Amazon or at thousands of libraries and bookstores throughout the country. ALA’s “Banned Books” appellation gets applied not merely to books that are actually removed from library shelves, but to books that receive mere complaints or “challenges,” in the ALA’s parlance. I want to know who funds the ALA.
I don’t want to ban any books, but I sure could do without busy-body prog propagandizing associations.
Back in my day boys weren’t allowed to check playboys out of the school library, yet today they call a book banned that is way worse than a playboy when parents don’t want their grade school kids access to it.
BTW, my grandson went to nationals last week and is now officially the National Rookie of the year in his sanctioning class. Not too shabby for a 10 year old, first year in a race car and raced against adults all year.
He also in his first big race at nationals transferred the first night into the A-main. His second night his motor started locking up so he was only able to run 5 laps.
The books that the NSDAP burned were exactly the kind the blue hairs want in our children’s libraries. Maybe they were on to something.
The First Amendment clearly applies completely to adults, and incompletely to children under the supervision of their parents. If our state-prescribed public schools actually represented PARENTS as their clients (as they were first formulated in most states), this issue wouldn’t exist. The schools would mostly reflect the values of the parents and the crappy material wouldn’t be in the schools.
If you think it’s important that little kids get taught about rimming and blow jobs, then you need to be tossed off a tall building, 1A or no 1A.

Re Nidaho, I’d never endorse anything the NSDAP did. More than a hundred years before the book burnings, German poet Heinrich Heine had warned that “those who would burn books will also in the end burn people.”
It is true that librarians were at the forefront in the protection of the right to free speech and expression, but the ALA has practiced aggressive banning/de-platforming of “inappropriate” and “contrary” views for decades, since liberal feminists essentially took over that sector, particularly in educational institutions.
There are some who still hold to a strict unbiased policy, but they are few and far between now, and often dominated by orthodox woke liberals in committees.
Along with leftist book banning, there is the shunning of white (“white” is no longer a label of race, but a pejorative, similar to Nazi or fascist), hetero (another pejorative), religious, not far left enough and not sufficiently woke enough males (and females, these days) when reviewing for hiring, promotion or retention.
The Bible is the most banned book in history.
