Zero Hedge
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says the company doesn’t have enough electricity to power all its AI GPUs, underscoring one of the biggest challenges in the current AI boom: energy supply. Speaking on the Bg2 Pod with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Nadella explained that the problem isn’t too many chips but too little power to run them, according to Tom’s Hardware, who summarized the interview.
“The biggest issue we are now having is not a compute glut, but it’s power,” Nadella said. “If you can’t do that, you may actually have a bunch of chips sitting in inventory that I can’t plug in. In fact, that is my problem today. It’s not a supply issue of chips; it’s actually the fact that I don’t have warm shells to plug into.” More
Satya Nadella; sounds like someone who should be in Singapore, being beaten with a cane.
C’mon, c’mon, hurry it up with the mass production modular fission power plants. I know they’re in the works but we need them right the hell NOW.
They solved this 60 years ago, on Gilligan’s Island. Just import a few million H-1B rickshaw “engineers” (job’s Americans “can’t” do) — and get ’em pedaling.
No supercomputers have enough power to run 100% 100% pf the time.
The most powerful supercomputer, El Capitan (https://top500.org/lists/top500/2025/06/), can pull 30MW continuously, and they will only get larger.
Companies with significantly large systems are required to notify the power company(s) when they power up or down, and can be limited to a certain power usage based on other usage demands.
Just hang on a bit…. Microsoft is pissing off so many people that loads are switching to Apple, or linux….
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella says the company doesn’t have enough electricity to power all its data scraping personal storage systems for the gov’t.
AI, my butt.
If the yardstick for success as a CEO is increased shareholder value, Nadella is in the hall of fame.
Why don’t they build data centers in the middle of the Mojave Desert with about a kajillian solar panels, seems simple to me.
Let them build coal plants to power their AI. If they need gigawatts, let them supply it. And impose the same permitting requirements as national base load grid suppliers are subject to.
There is a guy on Youtube who flew his helicopter over a new data center in the midwest. As I recall it’s taking huge amounts of water from the Ohio river, destroying farmland and taxpayers are paying for it all. Ramaswamy is all in. He’s ex Blue Angel pilot and he’s telling us to wake up because electricity will be unaffordable, worse than it is now. All to give a handful of billionaires more power and money.
AI is total clown shit, but you retards keep sucking the robot dick. 🖕🏿
Kodak used to have it’s own power plant, they even had a small nuclear reactor.
…and then there’s teh retard (Anon1714) who can’t read the room.
This is the same sh*t stain who fired all the state side Americans in IT and then put in a request for the same positions to be filled with H1-b visa holders. He should be sent back to Mumbai where he can hire all the H1-b type workers he wants.
They shouldn’t be allowed to purchase a single KW for less than the total, full, unsubsidized cost that it takes to produce and transmit the very most expensive to produce power. Not one Goddamned KW. These bastards are driving the dam removal, have encumbered nonclear with all kind of nonsense and fuck them sideways… and then only after they have reimbursed the total cost of Satsop, plus interest.

Plug your shit into this, bitch!
Rich, neither solar panels nor wind power provide consistent max power, plus to provide a consistent 60Hz signal, fossil fueled or nuclear needs to supply the majority of the power.
Two-twenty, two-twenty-one, whatever it takes…
And make them all drive electric cars and plug their shit into a windmill or solar panel or walk
Maybe we don’t need “AI”. We’ve made it this far without it.
Agreed Jethro… I partly lost my software engineering job becaise of AI, and I’m not able to secure another job because of it.
AI is very unstable and can only locate existing information and “possibly” create new information based on existing research.
AI will only be able to create new information when it’s able to achieve consciousness, which is actively being worked by human research which either create processors with active brain cells or improves quantum processing.
These people were at the front for green energy for years. They advocated to destroy all the coal power plants and go back with wind mills and solar farms. How’s that working out for you now? Own it, it’s yours.
Speaking of aluminum oxidation. . .
If all those CDs were indexed, I could pull out the chat logs from the early’ish 2000s when I read that a 650mb or 700mb image could be sent over fiber hair in a couple of seconds.
I remember it was called internet2 back then. About 10 years ago or so I recall reading that it was 50GB or 60GB Blurays in the same time.
Can you still FXP? I can’t. That was XPs AO.
