The Department of Energy (DOE) announced Wednesday that it advanced a plan to acquire one million crude oil barrels and begin replenishing the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).
The DOE awarded contracts “to the most competitive bids that met all quality and specification requirements,” the agency said Wednesday, following its Oct. 21 “solicitation to purchase one million barrels of crude oil.” President Donald Trump promised to replenish the SPR supply, according to the agency, which the Biden administration accessed ahead of the 2022 midterm elections as surging gas prices created a major political conundrum for former President Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats. more here

I didn’t know how that worked, and had always imagined that there was a “slow and steady” purchase policy, Still industrial quantities of 40 million gallons sounds like a start, albeit something like 0.25% of the current reserve.

One of Trump’s greatest accomplishments first term was to make us energy independent. This forward-thinking approach is necessary in all matters of resources, goods, and intellectual property for our own protection in a dangerous world; petroleum, semiconductors, rare earth minerals, and all raw materials our military needs to keep us safe and free. A fully stocked SPR is part of that plan.
The reserve has increased somewhat from its low over a year ago of about 350M barrels, was up to 410M in October. The max is 714M, which it touched late in Bush admin/early 0bama.
With gas being relatively cheap, now seems like a good time. But slow and steady should be fine. 410M is enough of a cushion, and no expectation of needing to rely on it anytime soon.
It takes patience and perseverance to build anything worthwhile. It only takes a moment for a leftist piece of shit to destroy what has been built or improved.
