When we were in London in 2009, Vera Lynn was going to do a book signing at a store Oxford Street. I would have liked to gone but it would have been a major adjustment of our plans to do so.

I once spent a couple of weeks in Dover, Plymouth, Portsmouth and Falmouth visiting museums and historic sites with a friend who enjoyed history and loved listening to a Vera Lynn CD. She was a real trooper and a great singer.

If Jean Kennedy Smith was like the other Kennedys she was busy keeping the boys at home moral up during WWII.
She was an adult during WWII and survived the Blitz. It started 81 years ago this September. There can’t be too many more around.
My own father served in WWII, survived it and would be 102 if he was alive.

My WWII dad woul have been 110 this year.
He enlisted at 33. He lived to 93.
Here she is (as fabulous as ever) in 1984 at age 67, singing both “White Cliffs of Dover” and “We’ll Meet Again.”
