  1. The problem with that Zeppelin Knot is that if it isn’t under constant tension it can loosen. There are better knots to connect two similar ropes. The Fisherman’s Knot works pretty well, but if you want a really solid connection, use the Grapevine Knot, a/k/a Double Fisherman.

NB: these are EASY knots to learn and tie.

  2. I learned about 35 knots when I was a boy scout 45 years ago. The bowline knot, double bowline, square knot, half hitches, sheet bend, and the trucker’s hitch are all knots I have used. The one I did not learn back then but have mastered is the monkey fist. It works better with a .750″ steel ball bearing in the middle.

  3. in construction, I do believe they ought to have a test on how to tie a square knot before you can get hired.
But I think they’re settling for anybody that knows how to push a broom? Not a joke.

  4. Anyone that hunts or fishes knows how to tie many knots.
Egg loops are a fun one to learn when fishing for Steelhead or a nail knot for tying on a tippet to fly line.

First part of tying your shoes over and under then do the same thing and reverse over and under.
Why, because I don’t want to spend 5 minutes taking your slip not apart.
    thanks

  6. if you have to do long runs of signal wires learn how to do sennits. you don’t get the problem of one wire getting snagged and breaking at a connection. any tension gets distributed along all the wires
