Donating to the Salvation Army is an excellent investment to help others. The rewards are not of this earth.
Well done Anonymous.
I don’t know, maybe that will pay the CEO’s salary for December?
I don’t trust anyone anymore.
Good for those donors!
In the Jewish religion, the mitzvah (good deed) is in the giving. Being anonymous is near the top of the heap. (the very top is helping someone better themselves so he no longer needs to be dependent on others.)
Don’t get me wrong, I am all for helping people.
Yet, I see all these events on TV where the people that are helped have several cars, 55″ Flat-screens, wear designer clothes, and weigh 278 pounds.
well…if the donators decided to remain anonymous we can be certain it wasn’t Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Eric Schmidt of Google or Larry Ellison of Oracle were the one’s to do it…..they’d be pimping themselves out if they did.
It’s a tax deduction. Nothing more. If it was cash I’d be
Impressed. Or a bank check for cash.
“Tzedakah” is the Hebrew word for the acts that we call “charity” in English: giving aid, assistance, and money to the poor and needy or to other worthy causes.
The CEO of the SA receives a pittance. It’s the only charity that will get my $. Check it out. An amazing % of dollars donated go to the needy.
I keep a buck in my pocket for every SA bell ringer I meet. Maybe should keep track of it, but I don’t. It’s not a tax deduction, just faith.
I was surprised to see my Irish lawyer ringing a bell outside a mall several Christmases ago.
While that did take a little of the sting out of his fees, it cost me another $3.oo
Proudly dropped a bill into a red pail just tonight. Love the SA. Best charity organization there is.
Please consider looking into the donation percentage of where the dollars go. You may be pleasantly pleased with the SA vs. other organizations like the United Way.
well, Farookin Allah bless, amirite???
How wonderful of that immigrant somali couple to donate so generously, you know. they don’t call it MinneSomalia for nothing…
Ditto from the Dumbplumber. SA’s CEO is the, or one of the, lowest paid in all of charities. I give often.
From very personal experience I would say that the SA is one of the few legitimate charities that exist. Congrats to whomever made the donation and may the Army continue to function so wonderfully.
