About-face: Hochul sides with Mayor Adams to lift right-to-shelter law

JTN: Gov. Kathy Hochul is siding with New York City Mayor Eric Adams in a push to suspend the city’s right-to-shelter law amid an ongoing surge of asylum-seekers.

In a new filing in the state Supreme Court, lawyers for the Hochul administration said the state supports the city’s request to modify a decades-old consent decree requiring New York City to provide shelter to anyone homeless, regardless of their immigration status.

Hochul’s lawyers wrote in the letter to the court that the parties who signed the agreement more than 40 years ago never contemplated “the influx of so many migrants in such a short period of time.”

“Despite unprecedented resources deployed by the city and the state to assist the newly arrived migrants, the current situation is not sustainable,” they wrote. more

  1. Democrats have trouble with advanced planning. Maybe they should have hired buses to ship anyone who wanted a warm room and free stuff to Washington DC. They have access to the deep pockets of American Taxpayers/slaves. No problem for them.

  2. “And just like that the left can take away one of our rights!”

Of course rights can be granted or denied depending on the political wind. That’s why they are called rights! /s

  3. Interesting here, as with dicktater Joe’s wall: just suspend (ignore) any inconvenient law in the moment. If that’s not Fascism what is? And the purpose of the other two branches of constitutionally defined government??? Bueller? Anyone?
