Thank you Woody for finding these.
Would be nice to visit for a bit, somehow.
Hauntingly beautiful footage of Edwardian Britain around 1903. pic.twitter.com/G3Ninjbes3

Bonus footage-
Enjoy this enchanting film from Victoria Pier, Blackpool in 1904. I love watching all the ladies strolling along at the end in their beautiful dresses carrying their parasols and the men doffing their hats to the camera. pic.twitter.com/BCd8gG43OD

Almost a century ago, a 1930s drive through the Canadian Rockies and Kootenay National Park in British Columbia. The route starts in Spokane USA just south of the border. The car is a stunning 1929 Packard 633 Phaeton. Feeding the bears is now illegal and results in a hefty fine. pic.twitter.com/UiiJnKJ19Z

Bustling street scene in 1897. This is the oldest known footage of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Watch the two men at the beginning with their fancy footwork trying to get out of the way of the carriages. pic.twitter.com/TnQBvgGA6K

Watching the world go by in the early 1940s. This is Piccadilly Circus. Towards the end you can see towards Regent Street and the statue of Eros which has been covered over to protect it from war damage. pic.twitter.com/KKooJ3s81h

England in 1910 had its challenges but I can’t help feeling a little bit envious of its every day charm and beauty. pic.twitter.com/JfiBNQo6qJ

I love these early colorized pieces, check this out from early San Francisco;

Not a single pile of human poop anywhere.
But all these early pieces must be fake. Every period production piece Hollywood puts out now has forty to fifty percent of the people, “people of color”. I guess they photo-shopped all of them out, bunch of white supremacists.
I’m sure glad I don’t have to wear a suit and bowler hat every time I go out in public.
Hmmmmmm. No fat people.
I am amazed at the excellent craftsmanship of vehicles, garments, buildings and structures that were created prior to technology and plastics being introduced.
Also notice how we are living in a world of spoiled idiots who don’t respect the past and what the hell they have due to the sacrifices of so many.
I like that they didn’t go overboard with the colorizing. Especially the clothing back then didn’t have a lot of bright colors, they didn’t have the modern dyes. Noticed several gents on the pier enjoying a smoke, one of the first things our nanny state decided to stigmatize.
The older films should have more road apples, I wonder if the camera crew did a little sweep up.
WOW!
THANKS!
First video, @45 seconds, watch how the preening asshole with the mustache, pushes the little kid out of the way so he can get into the shot. Must be a relative of Nancy P.
All those horses = flies. Lots of flies. No thank yew. I like nostalgic videos of the California of my youth, 1950’s and 60’s. Before democrats ruined it.
In the video of Piccadilly Square, you can see the L. Hill & Co. Chemist (drug store). In February 1974, it was a small restaurant. I ate there when visiting London on my first anniversary. I was two weeks away from my 21st birthday. I was in the Air Force and money was scarce. Pizza was the cheapest thing on the menu so that’s what was ordered. Imagine, if you will, a large pancake with tomato catchup smeared on top and parmesan cheese sprinkled over that. It was gross, but that’s what passed for pizza back in those days in England.
“They Shall Not Grow Old” (2018)
Excellent movie from fully restored WWI archival films.
No black people, women wearing dresses, men dressed up just to take a stroll, no facial piercings, and no technicolor hair in sight. What a bunch of racist, sexist, misogynistic extremists
No swarthy foreigners. No muzzies. Peace and quiet. Firearms come in the post. Gentlemanly demeanor abounds.
They, and we, have fallen far.
