Because they were asleep when the police knocked and announced themselves they didn’t know it was the police. Walker grabbed his gun and got out of bed to see what the noise was. Taylor got out with him. When they got to the hallway Walker shot at police hitting an officer.
Police returned fire killing Taylor. An officer was fired from the department and charged with endangerment because he fired into the house from outside the building. He was recently acquitted by a jury. Two things can be true at the same time without lying to the public.
But @RepAdamSchiff is a man without integrity so it isn’t surprising. There are few in Congress less deserving of their position than him.

Not to mention that although they did have a no-knock warrant, there are credible reports that the police did knock and identify themselves before entering. It was also shown that Walker fired first. I am pretty sure if the police pounded on my door and someone fired a gun, that I would not be asleep
