It’s almost like the left thinks they own the unions and has them by the onions.

Trumka blasted by teachers union boss for keeping door open on Trump 2020 endorsement.
AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka is getting an earful – on Twitter – from teachers union boss Randi Weingarten for reportedly keeping the door open to a possible Trump endorsement in 2020.
Newsmax reported Wednesday that Trumka would not rule out a union endorsement for the president.
“Every [candidate] will be looked at,” Trumka said. He added, “we will consider every candidate who’s running.”
Trumka simply may have been stating union policy, not wanting to get ahead of an endorsement process that is nowhere close to starting, for an election more than two years out.
At the same time, he noted to Newsmax that Trump did better with AFL-CIO members than Mitt Romney did in 2012, while Hillary Clinton fared worse than then-President Barack Obama in 2012. And Trumka sought to explain why some union members backed the current president: “They were looking for someone who was going to change the economy. They felt there were assaults on their health care and assaults on their pensions.”
I may be wrong, but isn’t Trump the first president to have employed laborers, as opposed to clerical workers, before being elected?
Don’t forget… thank a teacher.
With or without Trumka’s endorsement union members will still vote for Trump.
This walking away thing is turning into a stampede. One thing about people who tend to vote for Democrats, but are not staunch, died in the wool activists, is their compelling need to be in with the in crowd, for the most part they don’t have a nonconformist bone in their bodies and have never had an original thought. They are bumper sticker bait and the Democrat Party has prospered so long as they and the establishment Republicans were able keep the populace uninformed and in the dark.
Trump don’t play by those rules, he goes straight to the citizenry via Twitter and doesn’t take any shit out of the FAKE NEWS media. Trumka had better get his fat ass on the Trump Train if he doesn’t want to be run over and left behind by the Trump Train.
And as for Teachers Unions threatening him, I tutored in college and teachers are not all that bright.
@Boobie the late Rocket Dog – I’m sure there were others, but there’s at least one president in recent-ish times who ran a business employing laborers: Jimmy Carter. He left the Navy in 1953 when his father died, and went home to run the family peanut business. I think he did better as a peanut farmer than POTUS.
It is well known for years that rank and file construction trades union members do not follow the so called leaders. Teachers are a different class of zombie, as are SIEU members.
Construction trades will most likely go with Trump, the builder.

then the union doubled down on stupib backing Obama, again getting shafted with open boarders, which brought cheap labor to replace the union workers in the few jobs that hadn’t been offshored.
and just to keep the chain of insanity going, trumpka backed Hillary. thank our lucky stars, and the smart union men and women who voted trump, she did not win.
trumpka is surely not the brightest bulb on the string, but even he is starting to catch on.
full disclosure, I have been a member of the united steel workers union for over 8 years.
It’s probably got alot to do with losing membership with right to work laws. Most union members I know hate the blanket endorsement the union gave to Dems in the past and left union in protest. Don’t want their money going to causes they disagree with.

I have never worked in a union so I am ONE sided on this one.
I think trades that can be quite dangerous, unions should have certain protections, but sitting in an office in DC or Albany in a effing union???
One of my best friends, a former union NYC plumber, tells me stories to this day of how he was ‘encouraged’ to vote a certain way. In his case he told them, eff off. But that was years ago.
