On Sunday, the Pentagon said it had carried out “defensive strikes” against five Kata’ib Hezbollah facilities in Iraq and Syria in retaliation against the group’s attack on a US base near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk that left one US defence contractor dead and four American soldiers wounded on Friday.

frankly, I’m a bit surprised Trump went after Iran (& their proxies in Iraq) over a dead US contractor. did he/she die when a building fell on him/her? I don’t know. does anyone know? I’m a bit surprised Trump didn’t come out & tell us (US) why this action was done.

Molon: as long as you agree that is the question. Letting Iraq become Iran’s territory that is. The response from the Iraqi government shows that to be the case already.
Trump’s been targeting terrorists and Iran, if anything, is a terrorist state that remains responsible for most IEDs that went off post-occupation and Hezbollah operations in Iraq to the present.
There is no easy answer or clean response to this. You can’t let an attack on an embassy ordered by a country already under sanctions that is allied with your enemies to just stand. And you can’t protect a country whose government condemns you for attacking foreign terrorists operating within their border and who refuses to defend you.
You can evacuate and look weak allowing the country to fall into a Shia-Sunni civil war that Iran will win.
It’s a top to bottom cluster.
And drop a few bombs on Tehran as retaliation.
We’re being lured into another entanglement by the war hawks and I hope Trump sees it.
Have a boomer launch just 1 mirv and nuke em. And I mean nuke Iran. And when the rest of the world goes apoplectic, stare them in the eye and tell them to STFU, STFD, and play nice. After a year or so the rest of the islamic shithole countries will back off. Let Russia or China have Irans oil (after it stops glowing), I don’t care.
