12. President Trump had two firsts today. Although President Reagan was the first to give the “Gentlemen Start Your Engines” command, he did it from Air Force One flying over the track. President Trump did it in person. The Second First was President Trump to lead the First Pace Lap of the race. Although the motorcade drove around on the apron, they probably had to maintain at least 70 mph. because the announcers said that was the minimum speed for the the race cars to stay on the track in those 30 degree banked curves. With those “BEAST’ limos weighing over 22,000 pounds, they were too heavy to stay on the track in those banked curves even at 120 mph. With that weight they may have just rolled over toward the infeild on those curves.
