All Dogs Go To Heaven – RIP Jake – IOTW Report

All Dogs Go To Heaven – RIP Jake

Look at this handsome dog. This is Jake.

I told LadyGun that when I think of a dog, this is what I picture.

LadyGun adopted Jake in 2010.

Jake passed yesterday.

LG will see Jake again one day, I’m sure, because all dogs go to heaven.

RIP. You were a good boy.

  1. I second everything the nice folks above wrote. Dogs are such wonderful creatures and members of the family. They ask for so little and give so much. May Our Father comfort you in this time of loss. RIP, Jake.

  2. All dogs go to heaven, indeed.

LadyGun, I’m so sorry for the loss of your precious friend. Dogs enrich our lives in so many ways, but they leave big holes in our hearts when they go.

Jake is running and playing across the Rainbow Bridge, waiting patiently for your arrival.

  3. He was a sweet guy. He developed prostate cancer, and he wasn’t even 9 years old. I had adopted him at the local shelter when he was a year old, the day before he was scheduled to be euthanized. I miss him so much!

  4. My condolences LG. It’s always sad to lose a friend but it’s part of the responsibility we take on when we get our pal. Whether he/she is a little bundle of furry, rolling chaos at the beginning of life or an older friend looking for a warm, safe and loving retirement home they provide us laughs, love and a warm feeling inside and in return we’re their friend always but especially at a time like this when your pal has to turn to you and rely on your strength because he/she is ready for the next step but needs you to help them to the Bridge. Bon Voyage Jake, you’ll see your family soon for the next step in your journey until then run and play and chase those pesky, uncatchable squirrels.

  5. Just a suggestion: get another dog asap. This pet won’t replace Jake, no other animal can do that. It will help to fill the void in your heart he left.

  6. LG, I speak peace to you today. God comfort you.

Toby Tornado (australian terrier) is snoozing on the couch as i speak. His Mentor, Indiana Bones is in Heaven now, waiting to see us.

Yes, all dogs go to heaven, and up there, when you say speak, they will answer “Whaddaya want me to talk about?”.

Before Adams fall, animals had a limited vocabulary I’ve heard. Looking forward to all the great things God has planned for all his creation.

  7. You gave him life, love and a home, LadyGun. No doubt he appreciated it every day.

All my animals were either found or taken over from someone. They all appreciate their home. Well, maybe not office kitty so much. She sure is vocal about everything being exactly how she wants it. The little brat.

  8. So very sorry for your loss. I have so many waiting for me. Tippy, Tar, Spark, Crowbar, Emmie, Emma, Teddy, Barli, Carly. Down to Squirt, a 13 year old Pom. Daughter of Emma. And my new girl, Sister. She’s just over a year old now, Rotty. It is so hard to lose a friend that loves you unconditionally.

  9. Always sad to hear of someone losing a beloved pet. I am sure he had a good life in the time he spent with you. And I am sure he brought you a lot of joy too.

  10. I also lost my friend recently and wrote the following.
As an aside, I lost my job that same morning.
I grieve with you in your loss.

    Buster – RIP 5-15-2017
When we bought our own place we told the boys we would get a dog.
Around that time, next to where we used to live (Cypress College) there was a dog show that was featuring hundreds of breeds. What better place to go and learn about the dog we wanted to get. After looking at many different types of dogs and talking to various owners of the breeds, Wendy struck up a conversation with the owner of a beautiful Miniature Dachshund. Wendy had Dachshunds growing up and loved them. The lady she was talking to informed us that she and another owner had bred their dogs and actually had two puppies left. The lady called the owners with the puppies and we went out to West Covina right then to see the puppies.
It was love at first site. There was a long hair and a short hair – I liked the short haired one – he was so cute! I was thinking that something that tiny needed a big name and I was thinking of calling him Diesel. After spending four hours getting to know the owners of the puppies, they agreed to sell us the beautiful short-haired Dachshund.
We brought him home with us that day.
In the next few days as we were getting to know each other, one morning Wendy and I let the puppy out back to do his business. We were trying to coax him back inside and he was being a typical stubborn Dachshund. I looked down at him and said, “Listen here Buster, we need to get to work so you need to come inside!” As Diesel was not really working as a name for either of us, Wendy looked at me smiling and said “Buster!” that is the perfect name for him and I agreed – it was perfect for him.
Buster was awesome. He brought joy and laughter with the wonderful little doggy personality that he had. The daughter of one of our neighbors ended up showing him in dog shows and she won many, many ribbons with him. She trained our dog for us, always with love and gentleness and a great deal of perseverance (Dachshunds are stubborn and Buster was no exception).
Buster was special. He became (as noted by many in the family) my owner. Wendy and the boys could all be downstairs, right next to the door and if Buster had to go he would come upstairs to me and demand that I take him outside – always! He was also a “talker”. Sure he would bark if we needed to know someone was walking by or if someone, friend or family was coming into the house, but day to day he would “talk” to us to let us know if he wanted something – usually the food we were eating and then when he wanted his own food. Like many dogs it appeared that he had a doggie philosophy of “What’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine too”.
    I loved him very much.
Last Wednesday, a month shy of him turning 14 years old, Buster had a stroke. We took him to the Vet and they gave the diagnosis and prescribed some medicine for him. He had paralysis on his right side and was unable to stand or move by himself. Wendy took him to the Vet again on Friday and the Vet said that he was so alert that maybe we should see how he did over the weekend. Wendy and I spent all day Saturday and Sunday with him, spoiling him with love and attention (and in my case, trying not to break down into blubbering tears). Unfortunately when Wendy took him to the Vet this morning the diagnosis was that he would not get better. My little buddy had to be let go of today and I am completely crushed. Good bye my little Buster, I love you so much!

Rainbow Bridge (Death of a Pet)
    Submitted By: LibbyJo

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of all its beautiful colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows,
hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who were sick, hurt or in pain are made whole again.
There is only one thing missing,
they are not with their special person who loved them so much on earth.
So each day they run and play until the day comes
when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up!
The eyes are staring and this one runs from the group!
You have been seen and when you and your special friend meet,
you take him in your arms and hug him.
He licks and kisses your face again and again –
and you look once more into the eyes of your best friend and trusting
    pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together never again to be apart.

  12. Very sorry to hear about Jake. I hope the heaviness in you heart fades away with time and is replaced with only the love you shared with him. Bless you Lady Gun.

  13. I don’t deal with the loss of pets very well but, I can say I always pray they can be as happy in Heaven as they made me in this life. I’m sad for the loss of your dear friend.

  14. Let all the creatures of this Earth be silent. Let the passing of this beloved creature of God be sent as a message across the wind. May God grant Jake eternal rest.

  15. Beautiful Jake’s days & nights of pain are over, LG. At the least, you must have some pretty amazing memories. Comfort yourself with them to remember what a great ‘Mom’ you’ve been, as Jake jumps from cloud to cloud!

  16. Fur, that was an awfully nice tribute to a wonderful, much loved pup. Thank you for that. LadyGun12 is very special to a lot of us, and I know your tribute must mean a lot to her.

  17. So sorry LG…we know he had a really good life while he was here.

No matter how many times you go through it, losing a beloved furry family member never gets any easier.

  18. I’m so sorry, LadyGun!
I’ll tell you guys that I know LadyGun and Jake was incredibly lucky to have her as a ‘mom’.
She loved him and all her other ‘kids’ enormously. <3

  19. One of my all time favorite old time radio programs is The Odyssey of Runyan Jones, a story by Norman Corwin about a ten year old boy who chases his dog Pootzy all across the Universe including a visit with Father Time, Mother Nature and a trip to Curgatory to get his dog back after Pootzy dies. It is available on Wikipedia as a down load and is well worth a listen. I am looking forward to meeting my dogs as well as my late wife after I’m gone. I’m sure she has already met Olivia her St. Bernard, our collie Buddy and Sam the female golden retriever who loved to catch Frisbees and freaked out when ever she saw a light reflection of any kind and was endlessly chasing the reflection. I swear my cat Finn is her reincarnation because he does the same thing. I believe that dogs are angels in disguise watching over us hiding among us as dogs.

  20. My heart is breaking for you, LadyGun. Any time one of our iOTWr family loses a furry baby we rally and cry with them. We know what you are going through and I pray that God will comfort you with Jake’s memories.

    God Bless you.
