Alligator Lizards Hanging in the Air

Scientists have discovered a new ‘alligator-like’ creature that was caught hanging up to 60 feet in the air on treetops in Mexico.

The ‘unusually large’ species, which is related to the arboreal alligator lizard, was found in southern Mexico and is said to have avoided detection by hiding themselves in the foliage.

Researchers have searched for the elusive lizard on five separate occasions between 2015 and 2022 after ‘intriguing’ images of the animal surfaced in 2014, according to a study published by PLOS One journalMore

  1. Being a Marine Biologist and Herpetologist, I find the article fascinating and very interesting. Photos of their habitat are also very interesting.
I thought I’d inject a bit of common sense into the conversation.
