The one-word tweet was apparently enough to get him sidelined.
Simmons, 19, reacted to a tweet from Dutch journalist Jose Been in which she said she hoped for her American friends that “this horrible presidency ends for you,” adding “if you follow me and support Trump, you can go.”
Simmons replied to Been, saying “Bye” with a dark-skinned hand emoji waving. Her tweet was later deleted.
A separate Twitter user wrote that Simmons was “Apparently a Trumper.” He wrote back: “That’s right” with an American flag emoji.
“Regrettably, team rider Quinn Simmons made statements online that we feel are divisive, incendiary, and detrimental to the team, professional cycling, its fans, and the positive future we hope to help create for the sport,” the team wrote. “(He) will not be racing for Trek-Segafredo until further notice.”

So non-support, and slamming of, Trump is okay. Support of Trump is an actionable offense.
Got it.
This is fascism, plain and simple.
Dutch people. Go make your apple pies and stay out of grown people’s business.
It doesn’t seem to be the Dutch who kicked him off their team.
Rather, it was American Communists who did.
F them. Big time.
“Jose Been”?….is that like a used frijole?….
Yeah! That oughtta crank up massive pubic support for the bike show! Sort of like kneeling during the National Anthem! “You Go, guys…”
And they believe their polls that Biden is winning in a landslide.
Spelled “tourd” wrong on Twitter…
…well, I was in Holland once and this Dutch guy was in this windmill, and he was going to sell me some wooden shoes and tulips until he found out I wouldn’t denounce American hegemony, so he told me the stormtroopers would be looking for me in Dutch and got pissed when I laughed at him because Dutch isn’t German and “De stormtroepen zullen je zoeken” doesn’t sound threatening, just kinda gay, so he reached for a shotgun before he remembered they were illegal so he tried to flip me off instead, but that forced him to pull his finger out of the dyke, which made they dyke REAL mad so she killed us both.
Except it wasn’t Holland in the Netherlands, but Holland, Michigan.
And it wasn’t a Dutchman, it was an automated vehicle sales rep.
And it wasn’t shoes, it was self-driving vehicles.
And there WERE windmills, but it was February and they were all closed.
And I don’t actually speak Dutch and neither did he, but that doesn’t change the fact that “De stormtroepen zullen je zoeken” doesn’t sound anything but silly, like the Katzenjammer Kids or Igspay Atinlay.
And I think their was a dyke on their assembly team, but as far as I know, no one fingered her.
But the wife and kid DID get wooden shoes, just not there, and they SUCK.
And no one died, least of all me, because the wife already said she’s not gonna bury my phone with me so I have to quit blogging when I die, so y’all WILL get a break, sooner or later..
…anyway, what was this about? Oh yeah, Dutch bicycle fans.
Screw those guys. The only reason their crap country exists is so the German tanks get a nice rest on their way to REAL countries to invade…
Sorry. What I meant to tweet was “Death to America. Burn down entire city blocks. Attack policemen. Assault motorists. Loot. #BLM #antifa”
My prior tweet was probably incendiary, and this should be better.
Quinn’s an embarrassment to the Sport….No Honor, or Integrity..
The Jerk who is suspended him should be sent packing, fired on the spot!
Cut off all federal funding for bike lanes etc
An American Olympian supporting the President of the United States is divisive, huh?
what a glorious day it will be when Trump begins his second term.
@supernightshade
“Screw those guys. The only reason their crap country exists is so the German tanks get a nice rest on their way to REAL countries to invade…”
That’s fuckin hilarious. 😉
What is being done to us Trumpsters
will be done to us Christians real soon…
Well….I have a different opinion.
We are all sick and tired of being inundated by BLM and all the anti-Trump snubs and snarks in popular media (tv, movies, etc.), and just want sports to be about the sport rather than an opportunity for some idiot to inject his or her personal political opinion.
Perhaps (though who knows) that is the cause of this suspension? Even if not, keeping any and all politics out of sports and entertainment would be a massive move in the right direction.
