American millennials’ mental and physical health is on the decline — and they’re on track to die faster than Gen X, a new report says

So, what’s the solution???? Lemme guess…. I know… UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE!!!!

BI-

They’re seeing their physical and mental health decline at a faster rate than Gen X did as they age, a new Blue Cross Blue Shield report found.

The report used a baseline projection representing historical outcomes of “health shocks” and an adverse projection of current trends. It’s possible this decline could be rectified with proper management and treatment, but without intervention, millennials could see a 40% increase in mortality compared with Gen Xers of the same age, the adverse projection showed.

In this scenario, millennials could end up shelling out a third more in treatment costs than Gen Xers of the same age, because of a greater need for treatment and rising healthcare costs.

Healthcare is one of four key costs plaguing millennials. In 1960, the average annual cost of healthcare per person was $146 — in 2016, it hit $10,345. When adjusted for inflation, that’s a ninefold increase. Costs are expected to further increase to $14,944 in 2023.

  2. In light of the whole OK, Boomer thing, my first inclination is to join you in making fun of the desperation of the snowflake generation. But we’re the ones that raised them to have no values or moral foundation. It was our generation who allowed them to grow up without the tools to deal with life’s hardships. Our cohort allowed and even encouraged them to saddle themselves with incredible amounts of debt for useless degrees in Argentinian basket weaving. We’re to blame that they grew up eschewing faith, family & American pride. And now we laugh as the “self-esteem” generation folds in the face of the slightest bit of adversity? These are our kids and I fear for our country’s future.

  3. @redacted. I’ve been here, just don’t comment much. You guys are so consistently insightful and awesome, that I don’t feel I have much to add. As far as the comment above, although I’d bet it doesn’t apply to most of us here (my own kids are insanely successful and happy), as a group, the “Me Generation” has failed as parents and our kids are reaping what we’ve sowed.

  4. Right you are John Gault and allow me to add that years of allowing Liberals to indoctrinate our children in public schools with the relentless mantra of “racism”, White Guilt, Man is destroying the Earth, Common Core, 57 genders and Political Correctness etc has only added to that. The constant drone of this negativity and defeatism, whether is be subtle or overt, has taken its toll!

  5. Back in 1971 the Boy Scouts started a program called SOAR: Save Our American Resources. It struck me as fishy then, although I was too young to figure out why. Today the program has morphed into “Leave No Trace”. Yep, humans are the problem all right.

I agree with JG that we’ve allowed the programming of multiple generations with pure BS. How else would you be able to explain so many falling for ‘climate change’?

Oh, and I have other news too — there are exactly three genders: Male, Female, and Idiot.

Nonetheless, it is the individuals responsibility to make their own path in life. Personally I was beaten daily until I was 10, but I’m not an abuser. In fact I’m the opposite, I’ll help anyone with anything. You make your bed, you lie in it.
