It would match up great with a quart container of Colt 45 malt liquor. I don’t even like watermelon and never have really particularly cared for it.

I watched the vid. I’d try it. It would have to be outside. Not a fan of the smell of smoking honey.
And here I thought I was pushing the boundaries by putting salt on a watermelon slice.

Grilling it with ribs is worth a try.

Good lord, why would you want to ruin a perfectly good slice of watermelon???
Ick.

Chuffed, did you see the lady making the vid? She obviously ran out of cupcakes to grill and started cooking whatever was left over in the fridge.

Nope, never grilled watermelon. I wouldn’t go to any effort to do it myself but if somebody offered me a slice I’d certainly give it a try. It might be pretty good!
I’d bet those who turn up their noses at this idea still won’t try delicious grilled pineapple.

Grill some pineapple slices, you won’t be disappointed. Just throw the slices on the grill till they have marks. It brings out the flavor. The same as it brings out the flavor in all meats, onions, peppers, garlic, peaches, apples, romaine lettuce,..
uhm… there isn’t much I don’t throw on the grill.
Seriously, you need to grill some fruit and vegetables. They really are better.
I even have a chunk of flat stainless to throw over the grates to make eggs, pancakes, bacon, toast, kiwi and avocado slices in the morning.
Yes, I also make cakes, casseroles, and pizza on the grill.
If it’s not on the grill (or smoker), I’m not cooking.
It pisses off feminists and gorebull warming alarmists too. Happy is what I strive for.

I agree with uncle Al. Could be one of those things that seems weird, but is actually good. Like peanut butter and bologna, or peanut butter and dill pickles. Oh I thought the same thing you are right now……till I tried it. Gooder than tatters and better then snuff I tell ya.

@old_oaks — mmmm. Yes, grilled romaine is dee-lish.
I’d try grilled watermelon. It doesn’t sound good, but neither did grilled romaine. (But I also adored pickled green tomatoes as a kid.)
mrmittens is right, feta and watermelon go really well together.

I’d be willing to try it. Just don’t give me no God damned sushi. Blech.

Can’t be that bad. Yeah, I’d try it (without the rind of course) on a bed of chilled lettuce.

@Aaron Burr: When I was a kid we would have watermelon in the summer, and some of the adults would salt theirs. I couldn’t deal with it – every time I tried it, all I could think of was the salty-sweet taste of blood.
My childhood friend “Drac” never seemed to a have a problem with it, though…
