AOC, other top Democrats call for boycott of Hispanic-run food company after CEO praises Trump

Unanue, who was at the White House as part of its Hispanic Prosperity Initiative, on Friday refused to apologize for his remarks.

“So, you’re allowed to talk good or to praise one president, but you’re not allowed to aid in economic and educational prosperity? And you make a positive comment and all of a sudden, it is not acceptable,” he said.

  1. Another example of tribalism. The usual phrase is, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”, but in this case it has been turned around to, “my friend, who becomes a friend of my enemy, is now my enemy”.

  2. We have been using Adobo for twenty five years, and buy the white, pink beans and hibichuelos regularly.

As a matter of fact when this broke, we bought MORE.

For those that LOVE their chicken baked, Adobo is a MUST.

They even make a Lo-cal version! (iow it can be salty IF overused, oh and goes great sprinkled into your battered scrambled eggs…)

  3. Just submitted this at the Goya Foods website;

“Hispanic prosperity means U.S. prosperity.” ~ Bob Unanue, President and CEO of Goya Foods.

Thank you Mr. Unanue for all your hard work, and for having the integrity to speak positively about real efforts to foster prosperity for all Americans regardless of political affiliation. Please know that your courage in standing firm against those who wish to censor your speech is both appreciated and inspirational! My wife and I will now actively seek out your companies’ fine products, and purchase them whenever we can. Blessings upon you, your family, and the wonderful company you represent.
    Most Sincerely,
    XXXXX & XXXXX XXXXXXX

  4. Where are the nutty dems gonna spit out that 10 pound quid of bullshit they’re constantly chewing on?
This is getting old and very tiresome fast and it’s gonna bite them hard on their ass.
I hope November leaves them a bloody smear on election street,

  5. Goya Black Bean Soup is the best! Use as is, as a thick soup, or mush with a potato masher and throw in a pan with butter and make perfectly spiced refried black beans. Muy bueno!

  6. @SMUDGE – I have not had the guava nectar since I worked at a place called Waldbaums or was it Key Foods at the time?

That was in and around ’83. I remember it being very good! It has some viscosity to it.

Good times thanks for the memory! The guy that liked it at the time talked like a stoner when he said GUAVA, but the thing is he was NO stoner!

  7. I am awakened. I will look for Goya products now and expect to buy them. The Malt beverage sounds interesting. I’ve never had it before, except as an ingredient in beer.

Congratulations to their CEO in showing some backbone. A Mexican company shows US Corporations how its done. Bravo!

  8. @Little Morphin

That’s exactly how I do it. I add spices that sound good, like cumin, garlic, chili powder, and make it as hot as your family can bear. I cook them in chicken broth for the additional flavor. I usually have some sour cream and avocado chunks as garnish on the soup.

Another awesome thing to do with mashed black beans is make black bean tacos. For toppings, I use Feta cheese and cole slaw with celantro mixed in to it.

Now that is some good eating! Black beans are so hearty with the right spices and flavorings it is like eating meat.
