Apple is widely expected to formalize the end of iTunes as we know it at its Worldwide Developer Conference in San Jose, Calif. Monday, when the company will give us a first view at the next versions of its desktop and mobile operating systems. As part of that update, Apple is poised to unveil new standalone music, TV and podcasts apps for Macbooks and desktop computers.
With that step, Apple is effectively decommissioning iTunes as an all-encompassing media app some 18 years after first introducing the software. This may seem like the end of an era, but the truth is that the iTunes era ended a long time ago. More
Apple, lol. Look at me, I’ve got an I phone.
Yeah, well I’m a techno-boob who still listens to cassette tapes, so it doesn’t affect me.
I prefer my vinyl. The pops, crackles and skips remind of my youth.
I’ve thought iTunes was a bit of a mess. Always got lost with what I was doing or looking for-and I’m a Mac person! I like Spotify. The DailyMixes are great.
Anyone know what happens to the songs we bought?
SUCKERS!
Just like gold and silver. Your money doesn’t exist if it’s not metal, or jewels, or land.
You own your LP. Once purchased it exists. It is yours.
What did Scrooge say in the movie?
“These are garments, Mr. Cratchit. Garments were invented by the human race as a protection against the cold. Once purchased, they may be used indefinitely for the purpose for which they are intended. Coal burns. Coal is momentary and coal is costly. There will be no more coal burned in this office today, is that quite clear, Mr. Cratchit?”
Now, the streaming services are fine, but all my Ipods loaded with cool stuff are really mine. Should I require Plastic Bertrand, or Isao Tomita’s Holst The Planets I have them.
I like to browse and see something I like, not think up what I might like.
Don’t know what that signifies
iTunes is annoying, so is the Cloud. Never used either one.
I have an iphone6 which, in about 6 months, will be as good as a paperweight.
Tomita’s Holst? You… pleb! You, you, maniac! 🙂
How dare you besmirch The Boston Symphony Orchestra? THAT’S TREASON! 🙂 DOUCHE GRAMMAPHONE! HAA!
What the cloud giveth, it can taketh away.
I didn’t buy a 75″ flatscreen to watch movies on a 3.5″ cellphone or a big honking receiver to play music on a crappy phone speaker while eating my data.
I do not understand the Apple Lifestyle nor do I care to. Those people hate my guts. I’d rather set my money on fire than give it to them.
only for mac users, windows still can get itunes, not changing that one. just the mac os version.
oh dont wory bout the tunes, they still be there. also make backups of yous datas.
and if you really want to know what the WWDC19 Apple event, they tell everyone whats going down with itunes.

its a sad show this year, its like apple is now its 1984 commercial.
remember that one. tim cook is big brother and you get to watch all his minions appears on stage with their wares and words. #funtimesarehad
I just download my music from Youtube with an .mp3 converter.
It sounds great, why pay apple and itunes money?
With our iMac we copied our CDs into iTunes where they can be played on iPhones and iPads as well as on our car via Bluetooth.
I still have an old stereo with Miracord turntable, Wharfedale speakers, etc. to play real records at home.
Annnnnnnd there’s your problem – you have an Apple device. 😀
So ultimately Apple did the same thing MS did with Zune – you just can’t trust the bastards.
found this to make all happy bout the tunes app on the mac

apple makes and codes things that just work. for the $$$
but they’re still on the road to 1984!
And, if you’re tired of MS or Apple, install linux on the box, it’s free and secure

LinuxMint, Manjaro, MX Linux.
Apple devices may be more expensive, but you don’t have to get a new operating system ever few years.
They incrementally update over the years with totally new operating system update after several of the incremental decimal updates.
With a cheap PC you have to keep purchasing new Windows operating systems.
