Executive Order 14299, “Deploying Advanced Nuclear Reactor Technologies for National Security,” directs the Department of War to commence operation of an Army-regulated nuclear reactor at a domestic military installation no later than September 30, 2028. The Department of Army, designated by the Secretary of War as the Executive Agent for this mission, will lead the Janus Program on behalf of the Department of War.

“The U.S. Army is leading the way on fielding innovative and disruptive technology,” said Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll. “We are shredding red tape and incubating next-generation capabilities in a variety of critical sectors, including nuclear power.” More

  1. Build a nuclear power plant at every Military Base with 50% extra capacity to allow for growth. Sell the extra back to Public Utilities to reduce / keep down those rates until they can catch up and modernize their own systems.

  2. 50 years too late, but better late than never. The only reason this didn’t happen ages ago is because of shitlibs in government and their bullshit anti-nuke agenda inspired by some stupid fucking Hollywood movie.

  3. I’m just outside Oak RidgeTN. there is a HUGE boom of companies coming to thus area to do the small-reactor thing. Bunch of companies. Lots of federal funding. Good research for your 401k… these guys will be blowing up!

  4. I’d be more comfortable with this if I had more confidence in any administration likely to follow after Trump. A military under someone like Trump or Vance might be able to deal with this competently — a military under another Obama or Biden, God only knows what they’d do.
