Arrest Made in Murder of Beloved Oakland Football Coach

Fox 32

Oakland police on Friday arrested a 27-year-old former football player following the death of legendary Laney College coach, John Beam, who died from his gunshot wounds in what authorities described cryptically as a “targeted” shooting…

…”John Beam, who was a giant in Oakland and mentored thousands and thousands of young people over more than 45 years,” Mayor Barbara Lee said at an afternoon press conference. “Coach Beam’s legacy isn’t measured in championships or statistics, even though they are great. It’s measured in the thousands of young people he believed in, mentored and refused to abandon, including my nephew, while at Skyline High School, he gave Oakland’s youth their best chance, and he never stopped fighting for them.” More

  1. I actually attended Laney College in the mid-80s. It was about 8 blocks from where I lived, right near Oakland’s China town (at the time). I can’t even imagine what a shithole it is now.

Oakland is no place for a white person to be working. The KKKlan with a Tan will target you JUST for being white. No other reason.

  2. As the news guy (who knew John Beam) said, “What a waste.”

This echos the assassination of Charlie Kirk; someone with an ignorant bias or chip on their shoulder decides to kill the only person who never harmed them in any way, and in so doing denies the world of the goodness that person put into the world.

I regret that I will not be a John Beam, but I’ve known at least a couple of them; men who were very special teachers/mentors/cheerleaders, and who made all the difference to so many young people’s lives. God made some real angels, and there is no mistaking them.

  3. Coach must have “disrespected “ the brother at one point in time…the greatest crime in the ‘hood. You just know this thug will be found “not guilty” by a jury of his “peers”.
