NewsMachete: Atlantic City says it’s run out of money, and so will be shutting down for a few weeks!
The mayor of Atlantic City, New Jersey, says the resort town’s dismal finances will force a weeks long shutdown of nonessential government services next month if the city doesn’t get state aid.
Republican Don Guardian said Monday the shutdown would start April 8 and likely last until at least May 2, when quarterly tax revenue is set to arrive. MORE
Never been. I think it needs lots of suckers to lose lots of money to stay open.
Never been to a Casino, I don’t like large groups of people milling about.
I assume I could not bring my gun. So…..no thanks.
Imagine the tax revenue from a bunch of casinos with thousands of hotel rooms.
What does it take to blow that kind of dough?
Oh right, liberals, unions, corruption, overpriced pensions, etc…
Who’s governing this state?
It’sTrumps fault
Watch Boardwalk Empire!
Trump can fix it!!
what happened?
doesn’t alantic city take ebt cards anymore?
who would ever think gambling would take a second place to having a roof over your head and food and warm clothing on your back.
hard to have a city built on vice when the country is in a depression for the last 8 years.
Cue Nelson Muntz and direct him toward Tubby Christie.
Ruh roh.
Someone left the cake out in the rain.
Close down the city and non essential services. First, define non essential services. Second, is that closure a threat (extortion) or a promise?

I grew up there. Just a bit of background – the previous 5 Mayors (all dems of course) have either been thrown in jail or corruption or had someone on their city council jailed for corruption. When a democrat stronghold thinks one of their own has crossed the corruption line far enough to prosecute, you know it’s egregious.
Current Mayor is gay Republican. He was only AC resident running without a criminal record or in jail, I guess.
OMG! Chris Christie for President!!
A three week shutdown is the threat?
More intimidating would be to threaten to reopen it !

Take away the boardwalk and the first block inland and you have the east coast version of Watts.
