Audi Overrules Wheel of Fortune and Awards Contestant the Prize After Controversial Call

25 Comments on Audi Overrules Wheel of Fortune and Awards Contestant the Prize After Controversial Call

  1. Audi received far more publicity from this than if she had been awarded it in the first place.
I watched this episode last week and felt she deserved it.
She delayed in saying “word” (ironic isn’t it) but didn’t say anything between “right” & “word.”
She didn’t say, “um” or “ah,” she just had a delay.
If she had strung out r-iii-ghttt would it have counted?
Pat is a good conservative and he had to abide by the judges/producer and existing rules.

I am so glad she was white because racism would have been claimed by all.
Hell, it would have led CNN that night. Sigh*

  2. @Zonga: Oprah got a lot of grief over the car give away. She gave them to people who were poor. They flipped out when they had to pay the taxes and licensing on the expensive gift. Pissed Oprah off because of the bad press she got, but she also forked over the cost of the licensing and taxes. I wonder how many of those cars are still on the road, and how many of the recipients of the cars sold them the next day?

  3. I remember on Price is Right and the Clock Game people are guessing the price and say things like seven forty-three, forty-four, forty-five and they are given the prize, even though they leave out the “7” on their last guess.
The prize doesn’t cost $45, it costs $745 which they never actually said.
    Loco sees inconsistencies…

  4. So, there IS a jolly old St. Nick! He lives in Germany and works at Audi!

    That does it. I’m buying one. Wait. Maybe I can be on the show and win with the r i g h t … … …. …. … WORD!

  5. Audi and Volvo have had a big issue with Cam Towers for about 15 years. Still haven’t fixed them. Maybe that’s why they’re going electric.
Charlie, a Ford Four Wheeler is still a two wheel drive. Right front, left rear. I guess they all suck.

  6. Audi’s have been famous for decades for high-priced, low quality cars.
Remember the Audi 5000? Throttle stuck open.
Audi quatro? – one of the first all wheel drive cars – all kinds of drivetrain issues.
If I won one in a contest I would sell it and keep whatever cash was left after taxes.

  7. We did the HVAC installation work for an Audi Dealer in Vaughan Ontario. (I think 2003-2005 ish)
They wheeled in a bright RED A-6 to sucker all the trades into buying something. (Red for the Italians)
Proud to say that when my Dad was approached with the $64,000 pitch he said “So What, My Subaru has all wheel drive and it’s less than half the price.”
That Subaru is still on the road today being used by one of the grand kids.
Not one of the contractors who bought one still own their Audi’s

Think of the $$$ we saved.

Regardless, Fuck U Sajak & Vanna, show us yer Tits!

  8. Those big Audi sedans look nice, but not with a six figure price tag. I live near a big gym/indoor tennis club, it looks like a European car dealership when I drive by. The Audi’s are pedestrian, I see Ferrari’s and Aston Martin’s parked there. I salivate as I drive by in my Toyota.

  9. Games shows these days never invoke ‘technicalities’ when the contestants are homosexual or at least non-caucasian.

The wierdo current Jeopardy ‘champ’ just magically manages to choose all three Daily Doubles, nearly every game (statistically ridiculous).
