An upcoming comedy festival in New York City is charging different rates for attendees in an apparent effort to check the privilege of straight white men.
The Cinderblock Comedy Festival will be held Sept. 15-18 in the hipster stronghold of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. With the festivities just seven months away, organizers are already urging potential performers to apply to perform.
But the festival has one very notable policy: Currently, only women, non-whites and those who identify as LGBT are allowed to apply for an early-bird price of $19.25. Straight white men, on the other hand, will only be allowed to apply starting March 15, and they’ll have to pay $25 to do so.
Festival director Coree Spencer said the discount was intended to closely match the oft-quoted and oft-criticized statistic that women earn just 77 percent of what men earn.
What self-respecting, straight, white male would be caught dead at that freak show?

I am pretty confident the funniest part of the festival will be this story. Unless you count the low turnout.
Just because I don’t flaunt about another man’s pant antler deep inside me doesn’t make me straight. But how else would an otherwise straight male identify as LGBT? Too bad for the women who went through body mutilation and now identify as straight males, time to pay up bitches.
All I can hope for is that all the straight white males boycott this “event”, and that it goes bankrupt.

All those ‘early bird’ groups are funny, but not in a comedic way.

Isn’t this unconstitutional? This galls me the way a news story from about 15-20 years back did. Seems some chichi baby boutique in the ultra-yuppified, gender-neutral neighborhood of Park Slope was giving 10% discounts to lesbian moms. I would have sued, but I didn’t have a baby.
Every year, across the bay in sanfagdisco, they have an “Up your alley” fair for those who enjoy taking their pole upstream in pursuit of the brown trout.
They restrict who is there by making it something no sane person would every attend.
I can’t describe what goes on, I would rightfully be banned, but it is easy to find out, and Zombie did an excellent report on it a few years back.
The event takes place in a part of the city where “breeders” are banned. They are not allowed to rent or buy property in the neighborhood. Not surprisingly, these bigots are also racist. Gay blacks are kept on the fringes.
