Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon suggested that President-elect Donald Trump could seek a third term in office.
Bannon, host of the War Room podcast, made the claim during a speech at the New York Young Republican Club’s annual gala on Sunday evening.
The top Trump ally appeared to reference the wording of the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, which states, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.” Bannon said Republican lawyer Mike Davis, who was reportedly in line for the role of attorney general, noted that the Constitution does not specify whether this applies only to consecutive terms. Shit! First of all,
Let’s hope he gets through his second term safely.
^^^^ What he said AND he’d be 82. At some point he’s done all he can. Let’s hope Vance is a quick study. At 82 he should buy a 55 gallon drum of Viagra and a deserted island to go play hide and seek with Melania. You’ve done all you can for us poor fools Mr. President.
Bannon is delusional. No way will Trump be allowed a third term. He’ll be lucky to survive this one.
Masterful trolling Mr. Bannon, masterful trolling.
Constitution? I thought the Dems got rid of that.
I hope he was trolling. A couple of things:
Truman could have run as many times as he wanted. The 22nd Amendment clearly states that it did not apply to the (then) current President. I am sure that a new Amendment to repeal the 22nd would have the same provision.
2) If the 22nd Amendment doesn’t clearly state that it applies only to consecutive terms, then it is not limited to only consecutive terms.
He had to be trolling.
