The talk in New York is that Chelsea Clinton and Caroline Kennedy are readying themselves to run for the Senate seat now held by Kirsten Gillibrand. The thinking is that Gillibrand (who was elected to the Senate after Chelsea’s Mom became Obama’s Secretary of State) will not run for re-election in the Senate in 2020, but will instead pursue the nomination to the Democrat presidential candidate.
Kennedy is best remembered for botching her case for being appointed to the Senate seat in 2009 and having to settle for ambassador to japan, while Chelsea’s campaign efforts on behalf of her mom last year were lack luster affairs to say the least.
It these two really did end up fighting it out for that Senate seat it would only demonstrate once again that the Democratic party is the party of the people, if they’re members of the elite.
This gonna get ugly.

Corey Booker insulted Jeff Sessions, and suddenly he was the guy to run, then Sally Yates disobeyed the President, and she was the one to run, then War Whoop Warren insulted Jeff Sessions a little more, and she became the one. Not saying Gillibrand hasn’t done the requisite Trump-bashing for a Presidential candidacy. The Dynasties may be getting impatient.
At this point, I think the Kennedy clan will try to bribe Gillibrand out, and the Clinton clan will follow on with the death threat if that doesn’t work.

The nice thing, for the Democrats, is this is a “no upset possible” scenario. If Gillibrand doesn’t get enough beachfront properties before 2020 to be a martyr for the team, she can just keep the seat warm. If she can be persuaded to retire earl… I mean run for President, no matter which royal princess claims the vacated seat, the chair will still be empty.

Instead of thinking this seat would be a slam dunk for either of these two “princesses” conservatives ought to think of this as an opportunity. Both of them carry enough baggage of their own (Chelsea might be in front of a jury while Caroline has to convince people that she’s not an entitled, spoiled and kind of dumb candidate) and those names don’t inspire what they used to. If Gillibrand retires/bribed-out whatever and the GOP can find a good candidate and Trump has the economy repaired (or at least running ok), America once again regarded as a superpower and the illegals sorted out you could easily see an actual Republican winning that seat and a final stake driven through the hearts of the Clinton and Kennedy names.
