Behind The Scenes, Media Are Wetting Their Britches With Glee

Diogenes’ Middle Finger: Democrats have unveiled their articles of impeachment. They are, in what might be the understatement of the decade, incredibly weak.

The first is ‘Abuse of Power’ stemming from a non-existent quid pro quo in the Ukraine phone call. There was no investigation, Ukraine got their aid, and – as the nation’s chief law enforcement officer – Trump was well within his purview to ask them to examine the Biden family’s affairs. Democrats don’t care.

The second is ‘obstruction of Congress.’ This is based on the President’s refusal to let administration officials testify. Adam Schiff could have obtained a court order forcing them to appear, but he didn’t want to. more

  1. Burner: No. It is as much of a time limit as anything.

LBJ was eligible to run in 1968 if he wanted to because he served less than half of Kennedy’s term.

If Ford had won in 1976, he would not have been eligible to run in 1980 because he served more than half of Nixon’s term.

The length of time anyone can serve as President runs from six years to ten years, give or take a day. We think of the limit as eight years assuming the person was originally elected to the Presidency.

Trump has already served more than half his first term.

Since we’re on the subject, some people were saying that Bill Clinton could have stood down for one term then run again. That is not true. The limit is total time. There is no mention of anything meaning “consecutive” in the Amendment.
