Fearing that his fair city is going to become the defacto front line in the war over the 1st Amendment, mayor Jesse Arreguin is asking the University of California, Berkeley not hold a planned Free Speech Week at the end in September.
Perhaps the mayor should just turn the streets over to the mob, given how his police performed this weekend. After all, that right to assemble thingy in the Constitution is at the whim of whose who are strong enough to take and hold the town square, right?
So how do you bring the dogs of war back to heel after you’ve let them slip? By trying to prevent the target of the violent mob from opposing them in the future?
Bring in outside police, arm them with firehoses, rubber bullets, and tear gas, and let the fun begin.
Government forces didn’t “stand down.” They chose a side. Pass the MAGA hat among The Muh Constitusionists. The “thin” blue/green line needs more candy filled piñatas for this, newest, fiesta, since it looks like it’ll be a cold winter in Northern Latin America.
Maybe the Berkeley Mayor should cancel UCal instead.
Why can’t ALL Federal funding be stopped IMMEDIATELY due to this Constitutional (I.A) violation?

I wonder how the officers feel. I am guessing that many are sympathetic to the leftist cause, but I bet that a lot are frustrated, demoralized, and possibly looking for work elsewhere.
And where is the Civil Rights Section of the DoJ during these blatantly criminal attacks? None of the fascists ever have a permit to protest. Let’s just start with that.

Some decent hard science is performed at Berkely and you have to wonder what the researchers, professers and students in that arena think about this. You also have to wonder what the alumni, who were brought up on free speech, think of the developments at their alma mater. Maybe more importantly what their checkbooks think.
If your group is not willing to shoot and spill blood for the right to merely assemble and speak, then you have no right to do so.
The Berkeley mayor is an anticonstitutional shit bag. He’s not calling off “free speech week,” he’s denying free speech to anyone with a pro-American agenda. Any reasonable city would recall such a mayor, but Berkeley hasn’t been reasonable for most of my lifetime.

Every week, EVERY DAY in the USA is FREE SPEECH TIME. It’s an insult to our God-given freedoms to designate a special place, a special time, a special group FREE SPEECH. Anything less than ALWAYS and EVERYONE is WRONG.
