Biased Media Fears Being Outed By Their Own Tactics

Red State

So today, the New York Times reported that what was sauce for the goose will be sauce for the gander in 2020:

A loose network of conservative operatives allied with the White House is pursuing what they say will be an aggressive operation to discredit news organizations deemed hostile to President Trump by publicizing damaging information about journalists.

Operatives have closely examined more than a decade’s worth of public posts and statements by journalists, the people familiar with the operation said. Only a fraction of what the network claims to have uncovered has been made public, the people said, with more to be disclosed as the 2020 election heats up. The research is said to extend to members of journalists’ families who are active in politics, as well as liberal activists and other political opponents of the president.

  1. Well now, as the statists say, if you’ve done nothing wrong, you’ve nothing to fear, yes?

While a ‘journalist’s’ views may be his/her/its own business, when the ‘journalism’ practiced by said ‘journalist’ is biased in line with the ‘journalist’s’ views, those views become significant to the public.

The answer for these ‘journalists’ would be to do straight journalism, not advocacy ‘journalism’. It would actually be easy to do with a little practice, of course it wouldn’t be nearly as morally masturbatory and self satisfying

  2. The ones I’ve followed have said stuff that would get them fired from normal businesses before the end of the day.

They have liberal media privilege though. It means you can say racist, homophobic, violence threatening little bon mots to get Twitter likes. Everyone is very forgiving and understanding of what a nuanced iconoclast you are.

  3. I’m afraid this will have a disastrous effect further down the road. To date, we have enjoyed having a raw record of their true thoughts and intentions. That record will serve us well in the coming months as we approach the 2020 election.

But that record may soon start to slide over to something like SnapChat, where it can be more easily “memory holed”.
