Biden and Starmer Punt on Decision for Ukraine Long-Range Missile Attacks on Russia

(AFP) — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Joe Biden on Friday delayed a decision to let Ukraine fire long-range Western-supplied missiles into Russia, a plan that sparked dire threats from Moscow of a war with NATO.

Starmer told reporters at the White House that he had a “wide-ranging discussion about strategy” with Biden but that it “wasn’t a meeting about a particular capability.”

Before the meeting officials had said Starmer would press Biden to back his plan to send British Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine to hit deeper inside Russia as allies become increasingly concerned about the battlefield situation.

But the Labour leader indicated that he and Biden would now discuss the plan at the UN General Assembly in New York the week after next “with a wider group of individuals.” more here

  1. Biden is waiting to be told what day it is and what to do by his Politically Appointed Generals and the Perfumed Princes at the Pentagon.
Few of the Joint Chiefs have combat experience and fewer Perfumed Princes have leadership of combat operations. With this DEI crew you’ll have another Afghanistan moment in US Military History.

  2. Discuss it at the UN? With whom?

Russia is a member of the UN. I think Russia would vote against the use of western missiles against its people and territory. Or am I completely out of my depth with this opinion?

I still think this obsession with Russia is a feint to get our attention oriented to Eastern Europe and off our policy of defending Taiwan. Why? Because we can’t defend Taiwan.

  3. Be wary of this date coming up soon: Oct. 1, 2024. The 75th anniversary of the Red takeover of China.

Yeah, China has a big enough military to do two things that day: have their big military parade in Beijing’s big Red Square or whatever it’s called and also invade Taiwan.

The US and China militaries have had recent meetings about how to avoid misunderstandings and unfortunate incidents over the next few weeks or months. The fix is in. Signed, sealed, and delivered.

  4. Yes, by all means, go and “hit deeper inside Russia”. Because that has worked out so well for so many others during the last few centuries. I mean, it’s not like Russia is where empires go to die.

And why even ask the UN? Is it because your NATO pals are tapped out and alarmed at where USUK is taking them? After all, the missiles they want to launch are European. I don’t see any mention of Tomahawks in this plan. As if that absence would grant the US a reprieve from Russian retribution.

One hopes that this is all impotent saber-rattling by powerful people who know they are losing Ukraine, instead of vengeful fools in thrall to the sink-cost fallacy.
