Biden Claims he Couldn’t Afford Childcare on $42K Salary in 1973, Equivalent of $250K When Adjusted for Inflation

DanBongino: Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden desperately tried to relate to the average American during last night’s CNN debate, and claimed he could not afford childcare on a $42,000 salary in 1973.

The former VP was asked,”Infant care is more expensive than in state public college tuition in more than half the country. Do you support free universal infant care?”

Biden replied, “There should be free universal infant care. I was a single parent, too. When my wife and daughter were killed, my two boys I had to raise. I was a senator, a young senator, I just hadn’t been sworn in yet. And I was making $42,000 a year.” more here

  1. I still can’t believe anyone would blame an innocent man for the death of his wife and child and NEVER correct the story until confronted by the man’s family. What kind of dirtbag does that? Oh…I just answered my own question.

  3. Are we to assume no money from insurance, social security, or lawsuits coming in for the new U.S. senator who was also a lawyer?
Admit you spent freely but maybe occasionally overspent and save the sob stories.

  5. 1972 is when I started with the gov’t.
Me, wife, and son living on $2.11/hour (if memory serves – I was under Elevator Operator Pay) which comes out to about $4,400 per year. But the GS Schedule for 1972 (effective until Oct. 1972) shows $3.13/hour ($6544/yr).

Either way, Joe’s a fuckin liar.
