Biden Sells Out Boeing To Cozy Up To EU

The Wall Street Journal

The U.S. and the European Union agreed to suspend their trade dispute over government subsidies to Boeing Co. and Airbus SE, significantly easing trade tensions amid a broader effort to improve trans-Atlantic relations.

The agreement would suspend for five years tariffs that have been authorized by the World Trade Organization, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai told reporters on Tuesday. A four-month suspension of the tariffs that’s already in place will be extended starting on July 11, she said.

“This deal allows us to start turning the page on this longstanding dispute,” Ms. Tai said, adding that the U.S. sees the deal as a model for resolving future disputes with the EU. More

We had already won the right to impose offsetting tariffs against the EU for its subsides to Airbus. “Based on the WTO ruling of the subsidy case against Airbus, the U.S. may impose tariffs of up to 100 percent on $7.5 billion of annual EU imports—including Airbus aircraft. The new duty rate follows a compliance report from the Geneva trade watchdog, released in December, that found that changes made to Airbus A350 and A380 development loans did not bring the four so-called Airbus countries—France, Germany, Spain, and the UK—in compliance with WTO recommendations.” More

  1. Boeing employs thousands of hardworking people!
I hope they enjoy their future union induced unemployment when AirBus makes the cost of their jets so low that Boeing cannot compete!
For those union workers who drank the koolaid and voted for Bidumb… Enjoy the suck!

  2. 17 years of litigation to get the WTO to award off-setting tariffs and Biden gives them up with a wink and a promise from the EU. No wonder the Euroweenies were laughing up their sleeves at slow Joe.

  3. Boeing is in the shitter by their own doing. The 747 is the most beautiful plane that ever flew. I Love them.

The Airbus 380 was an incredible achievement in producing an Incredible plane at the wrong time. Too Big, too expensive, tough to co-ordinate manufacturing, and very hard to re-purpose for transport. It was already Done BEFORE Covid because the “Hub Model” of air travel was disappearing.

That alone should have secured Boeing’s future for the next 25 years but BOOM! Literally.
Boeing’s 737 MAX and starts killing people for a few reasons. Training, software, instruments etc.

I would rather take an Airbus and I hate the Europeans. But they did not lie to everyone the way Boeing did with the 737MAX. “Its the same as the 737 and pilots do not need much re-training” That was the marketing lie.
