The U.S. trade deficit rose an astonishing 22 percent in March to $109.8 billion as prices of oil and imported products rose due to soaring inflation, according to data released Friday by the Census Bureau and the Bureau of Economic Analysis.
The trade gap for February was revised up to $89.8 billion, making it the previous record high. January’s figure was $89.23, which was then a record high.
Economists had been expecting the deficit to hit $106.5 billion, according to Econoday.
Imports jumped 10.3 percent in March to a record $351.5 billion. The figures are not adjusted for inflation so much of the gain is likely due to higher prices and not solely caused by an increase in imports. Oil prices surged in March, contributing to the surge in nominal imports.
Exports were also up, rising 5.6 percent to $241.7 billion, also a record.

Does this include billions of dollars we just fork over to places like Ukraine? Hell no it doesn’t. LOL it probably balances the deficit as an export. Damn snakes.
Funny to look at pro-Biden information out there. It’s all so deceptive. One in particular is a commodity chart that shows the percentage of each commodity off its 2022 highs (in small print). Oil for example at the time was $100 and it’s high was $130 for 2022, so the chart makes it look like oil is DOWN 23% for the year. In addition to wheat, coffee, lubmer, etc. Only a couple commodities are shown up (from their 2022 highs) just a few percentage points for the year. It’s PROOF Bidenomics are “working.” lol, it’s a riot. There’s no mention that commodities are actually up significantly for the year. Interestingly precious metals aren’t ever shown on any of their commodity charts, to keep the idea of sound money completely out of sheep heads.
