Despite the Biden administration’s desperate efforts to gaslight America into believing “this is not the recession you’re looking for”, BBQ-maker Weber’s shares are in freefall in the pre-market after announcing a management reshuffle, suspending its dividend, and providing a dismal business update, withdrawing its FY 2022 Net Sales and Adjusted EBITDA guidance. If you can’t afford the food you don’t need a place to cook it.
Traeger Pellet Grills-axing 33% of work force.
But this is not a recession! Of course, it all depends on what the meaning of “is” is. And the words ‘But’ ‘this’ ‘not’ ‘a’ and ‘recession.’
Ya know whut really burns my ass…
The thought that a company that has made grills for 70 years needs a Chief Technology Officer!!
I’m guessing that grilling grasshoppers and crickets does not require special equipment. It can be done over a dung fire… right?

The first Weber gas grills were made 25 years ago and that model still rocks the house around this house. Steel frame. Heavy cast aluminum grill box and hood.
The ones they make today cost X10 and are cheaply constructed. Bent sheet metal.
Wouldn’t trade my 25 year old weber for a new one plus cash.
It’s too bad for Weber there isn’t profit in going back to basics.
Overpriced grills won’t sell in a recession.
You’re correct WTF over???, I bought a top of the line Webber Summit six burner grill and paid $2500 for it. Within six weeks the “stainless steel” developed rust spots throughout and the chrome on the handles began to blister.
Webber isn’t going down because of a recession, they are going down because some dip-shit MBA decided it would be more profitable to buy steel from China.
Old Man Weber knew what a grill should be. The young blood in the company wanted to add a gas grill to the product line. Old Man Weber was skeptical that steaks cooked on gas would be as good as steaks cooked on traditional charcoal. It took the young blood and his engineers more than 3 years of constant work before they came up with a gas grill that cooked a steak to Old Man Weber’s liking. He said, “OK. Build it.” Weber produced that model for 20 years. It looks like Old Man Weber isn’t around to call the shots anymore. Too bad.
I haven’t grilled one steak this summer – can’t afford to!
WTF over – You may have gotten yours 25 years ago, but they weren’t the first Webers. We got our first Weber in about 1976 and it lasted about 3 decades. Just bought the 3rd one last year and a Smokey Joe for when we just want a couple-three hamburgers. the gas is a Kitchen Aid stainless that we got about 10 years ago. It must be true stainless cuz it’s outside all year long and still looks like new. (the grates are starting to decay a bit tho…
WTF over – Oops, my bad – just re-read your post and I see that I misssed the word “gas” the first itme thru.
TRF, actually you are correct, Weber DID make a gas grill back in the 70’s. It was a modified traditional round Weber kettle style.
In the 80’s the young blood wanted to join the “SQUARE GRILL” crowd to get in the emerging consumer demand for a modern grill.
