Why People Lost Their Minds When A Brooklyn Store Played ‘Sweet Home Alabama.’
Upscale progressives have gotten used to tuning out the voice of the Trump voter. But there’s an America out there that they can no longer ignore.

CRANK. IT. UP. 🤘😎🤘
If I worked at that store, I would have figured out a way to play it a second and third time, cranking it up louder each time!
Great article!!!! As I said previously Americans have a real reason to give thanks this thanksgiving.
I love the part where Neil Young admits that his songs painted with too broad of a brush. Yeah. No kidding
And that the shoppers in NYC got incensed hearing Sweet Home Alabama in the grocery store is beautiful.
Totally loved this.
They need to play something even better.. like oh say –
Molly Hatchet – Gator Country
Lyrics:
I’ve been to Alabama, people, ain’t a whole lot to see;
Skynyrd says it’s a real sweet home, but it ain’t nothing to me.
Charlie Daniels will tell you the good Lord lives in Tennessee, ha!
But I’m going back to the Gator Country, where the wine and women are free.
There’s a gator in the bushes, he’s calling my name.
And a saying come on, boy, you better make it back home again.
There’s many roads I’ve traveled but they all kinda look the same.
There’s a gator in the bushes, Lord, he’s calling my name.
Old Richard Betts will tell ya Lord, he was born a Ramblin’ Man,
Well, he can ramble on back to Georgia and I won’t give a damn.
Elvin Bishop out struttin’ his stuff with little Miss Slick Titty Boom,
But I’m going back to the Gator Country to get me some elbow room.
There’s a gator in the bushes, he’s calling my name.
And a saying come on, boy, you better make it back home again.
There’s many roads I’ve traveled but they all kinda look the same.
There’s a gator in the bushes, Lord, he’s calling my name. Yep.
There’s Marshall Tucker a ridin’ a rainbow, searching for a pot of gold
Well, they can take the highway, baby, and take all they can hold.
The Outlaws down in Tampa town, yes, a mighty fine place to be.
They got green grass and they got high tides and it sure looks good to me.
There’s a gator in the bushes, he’s calling my name.
Saying come on, boy, you better make it back home again.
There’s many roads I’ve traveled but they all kinda look the same.
There’s a gator in the bushes, Lord, he’s calling my name.
Oh, Gator Country, a little bit of that chomp chomp..

Ricky,
I think you’re Flirtin’ with Disaster
Remembering another lyric from Sweet Home Alabama
Now Watergate does not bother me. Does your conscience bother you? Now tell me true.
Ok. Now I have to pull it out and play it.
Lynyrd Skynyrd’s, Sweet Home Alabama, has 27,323,954 views on YouTube. Three of those are from Brooklyn.
I don’t know what the hell is so offensive to those bastards; I can listen to Sweet Home Chicago without blowing a fuse, and I hate Chicago and most of the people who infest that city.
Grow up, angry children.
And never forget: all the slave owners were democrats, you racist fucking pricks.
Neil young sucked. Never did like his lyrics.
Hehehe…..
“Toin it up…”
Just listened to sweet home Alabama again. Just ass awesome as when it streeted. Spotify tried to suck me into Freebird. Almost took the bait.
Ok. I’ll take the bait. I’m a largemouth bass.
Skynyrd, The Outlaws, Black Snake, Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker, ZZ Top, 38 Special, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Shit I think those people in Brooklyn are Butt Hurt because they have NO musical talent.
@Ricky — Two words. Jeans shorts.
🙂
I love my iPhone but…..
Just ass awesome? Apple is trying to destroy me
jclady, two more words. “Halter Tops”.
I’m playing it right now on Youtube. Turn it UP!
@Bad_Brad – You must not be from either Georgia or Florida. “Jeans shorts” is a Georgia insult to Floridians. And it applies to males, not females.
Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂
jclady, Can I still like Halter Tops? Only for females ya understand.
@bad Brad.
Well now you’ve done it. I’ll let you know when my musical remembrance tour is over. Marshall Tucker? Zztop?
See you all later. In about a week.
On a sad note, I guess Lynyrd Skynyrd can no longer drop the YUGE Confederate flag during the crescendo of “Free Bird”. Man, that always got the crowd going wild.
Had the pleasure of seeing them live three times in the 70s.
Bad_Brad. Yep. 🙂
Was young enough then (old enough now) to have worn the famous halter top with hip-hugger, wide-leg jeans. As a parent, I would have died if one of my girls walked out of the housed dressed like that!
Once I heard that the Queen said: “If you are bored, you are boring”
So by that logic, those who are offended…
PHenry
I went right to Green Grass and high Tides.
Oh my Jc lady. Good thing that you and I didn’t tangle back then. Ha.
Marshall Tucker “heard it in a love song” right now. And punkin pie. My life is good.
Homemade pumpkin pie btw. I’m in charge of the crust. Mrs saddleburr does the filling.
Am I threadjacking? Sorry.
Shop at Trader Joes, they play some decent music in there and I tell them so.
@PH — (sorry, comments won’t allow me to type out your entire name).
Ha! 🙂
I used to like Neil Young, although I agree with Skynyrd’s sentiment. But many years ago a friend told me about an experience he had with Neil. My friend was a recording engineer, was scheduled to work with Neil and one other guy at a studio. Neil pulls out a bag of coke and offers it to the other two. The other guy pulled up to the table, my friend said thanks but no (he had tried it once and it ‘did nothing’ for him) but that he didn’t mind the others doing it. Neil said if you want to work with me you’ll snort with me. So my friend walked. After hearing that story I kinda stopped listening to his music, for a long while.
Skynyrd was the ‘go to’ after the ABB cranked out & died after Duane’s death … such a shame Ronnie died in that crash
seems like Southern history is one flame out after another
…. Thomas J. Jackson is still a hero of mine ….
as for Neil Young … fuck you Canuck …. you got no right to bite the hand that feeds you
Back in the day, at the Shifting Sands club, at Guided Missile School, Dam Neck, Virginia, I held my lighter aloft for “Freebird.”
Dont you all know that “Sweet Home Alabama” is insensitive to blacks because of those four little girls who were killed in that Church 54 years ago? Dont you understand how painful those memories are for all the members of our vibrant communities of color, you bigoted, snaggle toothed cousin humpers????
So please, take that off and put on “Sweet Home, Chicago”. That’s better
Hi Callmelennie, you can take your sentiments and shove it! Back in 1975 when South Vietnam fell, Patty Smith had a concert in Central Park to celebrate the victory of North Vietnam over south Vietnam. It’s bad enough we have to accomodate progressives like you but now you come into our “Safe Space” and tell us what to do? Go and $&%($#& %$#@* @9! %*%*@() and remember to pay your Obamacare bill!
whitey, i kinda think lennie was snarkin on us……maybe some slack is in order…..???..
…..or maybe not, i dunno…lennie could let us know…..
Bad Brad whenever I hear Green Grass and High Tides by The Outlaws on my satellite radio I crank that baby up to warp factor 5. Love that song, I also crank up the long version of Time Has Come Today by The Chambers Brothers. And Trader Joes does have very good background music playing when I shop there, they have a very eclectic but good selection of music.
