Over the next decade, advances in artificial intelligence will mean that humans will no longer be needed “for most things” in the world, says Bill Gates.

That’s what the Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist told comedian Jimmy Fallon during an interview on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” in February. At the moment, expertise remains “rare,” Gates explained, pointing to human specialists we still rely on in many fields, including “a great doctor” or “a great teacher.”

But “with AI, over the next decade, that will become free, commonplace — great medical advice, great tutoring,” Gates said. More

  7. I saw something recently that said that at this point, much more effort and money would need to be poured into advancing AI than would be worth it. Basically, we have already reached the point of diminishing returns. Not that we can’t do it, but that it isn’t worth doing it.

    I have yet to see a single business case that will make money on AI, except for those that will be selling it.

A lot of the server power used for the current crop of AI engines is dedicated to keeping them from going racist and homophobic because they learn quickly and have to be controlled. fancy. as for AI replacement of people, pretty sure the clot shots are going to make that a more likely outcome over ai becoming skilled enough equivalent.gates needs to go. maybe have a vax party for him and he can sample at random all the current vaccines on the market. start with the ones that have 30+ pages of side effects

  17. Bill, you stole the idea for Windows decades ago. That didn’t make you smart then, it just identified you as a thief. Now, you’ve got more money than you know what to with and the guy that looks back at you in the mirror is telling you that you’re a genius. You’re not.
