Speaking of Brits, Shaun of the Dead is a great flick, albeit not a crime flick, it’s a funny zombie flick.
Not sure what the problem is here. I understood every word. But then I was born within the sound of Bow Bells.
I watch British shows to immerse myself in a foreign language.

My wife is Chinese, but she’s been here for decades, so she understands English like a native. We both need subtitles for British shows.
Hammer films are my British binge watching vibe! Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Barbara Steele etc
My favorite old British crime movie is The Lady Killers, an old B&W crime movie with Peter Sellers, Alec Guiness, Herbert Lom and other British character actors. The plot is these goofs are trying to rob a bank but keep getting stymied by a little old lady whom they rent a room from as their hideout. And the bad guys keep getting knocked off and killed in various hilarious ways until the old lady inadvertently discovers that her boarders are all crooks. It’s a great movie.
The old lady is named Mrs. Wilberforce and is called Mrs. Lopsided since she lives in an old, ramshackle, lopsided house next to the railroad tracks in a seedy part of London. She is called Mrs. Lopsided by a great big, dumb hulking goon called One Round who was an old boxer who took one too many punches to the head and is very fond of Mrs. Lopsided much to the chagrin of the other crooks. The Tom Hanks remake sucked, the original is far better and is a great dark, humorous classic British crime movie.
” layer cake ” 1994 , british crime noir , also any guy richie flim
I watch with the captioning on.
I remember reading that many Americans could not understand the Guy Ritchie movie “Snatch”, starring Brad Pitt as an Irish gypsy boxer. My 10 year old daughter and I saw it and had no problems, as the actors were speaking like Newfies (people from Newfoundland).
We love “Snatch”.
I don’t really speak Spanish but, the Spanish subtitles sometimes help.
Listening to Hader is torture. Sniveling puke.
