The self proclaimed “Tuna King,” Kiyoshi Kimura, president of the Sushi Zanmai restaurant chain, purchased at auction a 610 pound blue fin tuna. Kimura paid roughly $3.1 million for the fish, more than double the previous record. More
The record sale should be greeted with great enthusiasm in Great Britain, which earlier this week reported the return of the lucrative game fish to local waters. The BBC tried to turn it into a global warming downer instead. Here

One of my guilty pleasures is watching that tee vee show where they fish for tuna in the Atlantic. But like a lot of those shows, most of the time is spent watching guys fix equipment and deal with snarled gear.

I bet, that if you go out back behind this guy’s butcher shop tomorrow, you’ll find about 8,000 empty tunafish cans in a big pile. Probably Starkist, too.
He’s going to make a lot of money off that fish.
(And, I won’t even bring up that old definition of a fisherman. You know- a jerk on one end of a line waiting for a jerk on the other. I’ll save that for some other time.)
