DC:
[…] “All I know is that the coverage of this would be a lot different if it was in a different prism, if it was a Republican governor I think it might be leading a lot of the newscasts that it’s not leading currently. And I also think it’s really interesting in the context here,” Baier responded.
“Obviously, this is tremendously offensive and horrible. But, the earlier comments about what many considered infanticide about keeping a baby comfortable outside the womb and then making a decision whether to move forward with killing that baby didn’t get a lot of coverage comparative to this,” he continued. Fl Sec of State resigned last week over 14 year old Halloween picture in blackface.
Why does a Democrat get a pass?
Thank you Brett “Captain Obvious” Baer
Bret Baier said that? That car wreck must have given him a pretty good shot to the head.
Let’s complete that observation Brett, hep us to why coverage is different between said “Republicans” and Trump.
If the hood doesn’t fit you must acquit…
Today is a Day that will live in Galleries.
Another visitor. Stay awhile. . . stay forever!
May I please be forgiven for thinking that the timing of the revelation this week of the Northam yearbook photo after his casually delivered acceptance of murdering babies last week is not accidental?
Cynical, to be sure, but modern American society and politics simply begs for cynicism.
Seems I recall Mark Foley and Macacca 24/7 for 6 weeks
Certainly not accidental. Dan Bongino said this morning he knew about the pic last Oct. but failed to follow up dues to the anonymous origin of said email.
Is Bret an Anglo? He has the Anglo trait of understatement! “…DIFFERENT…” there would be no resemblance!
I’m not trying to be funny, sarcastic, perverse or provocative in writing this (but): I do not understand the giant whoop over blackface or a white person going in costume black face. The KKK is even funny (to me). Was the guy going to a meeting of the Klan? No! He was making fun of them. Seems to me we’ve turned the very idea of black face into the “N” word, when I don’t think that’s what is meant by it at all. Anymore than a kid dressing up in an indian costume is intending to disrespect an indian. It’s a damn costume one puts on, on a night when everyone dresses up a lot like caricatures of iconic people, subjects and things they think are funny, scary, awesome, witty and strange. Although there are some “safe” visages we associate with Halloween, like witches and ghosts and such, people have been wearing whatever kind of costume they can cobble together for a long time. Why, suddenly, is it verboten (and it is verboten) to dress in a KKK get up or look like Jolson? Little ghosts, on Halloween, wear white sheets, too! Are people going to start going crazy at that reference, too? Or is that why I don’t see a lot of white-sheeted ghosts at Halloween already?
Maybe I’m just ignorant about the sensitivity to this. I don’t know. I always liked Aunt Jemima for the friendly way she looked, her broad smile, and her distinctive red bandana on the syrup label. I never once thought about her being the target of anything. And she would make an excellent Halloween costume because EVERYONE knows who Aunt Jemima is. And part of the fun of a costume is making everyone guess at who is under all that make-up, mask or clothing, right?
Jeese Louise. Everything is off limits, now, on Halloween, except just about EVERY high school girl who wants to dress up like a Playboy bunny or a French maid.
I think Northam would have been better off if instead of his ridiculous, hypocritical apology, he’d just said he was making fun of the KKK. Most people, I think (anyway), would have gotten that.
…and another thing: Why are we letting the Left continue to get away with assigning motive or divining the thoughts behind everything? Fascists!
I’m not going to let Northam’s political affiliation enter into it but only to say that I find it rich that his party is the one who is the party of slavery and now it’s his party who is the biggest pearl clutcher over this. It gives me an enormous pain in the behind even thinking about all this. Stupid idiots.
He would have been crucified before the weekend even got here if he were a Repubic!
(no that’s not a typo)
BTW: Has anyone on the Left condemned The Village People and demanded their public apology yet?
@AbigailAdams – You put very, very well my own thoughts on the matter. Hysterical condemnation of any use of the word “nigger”, appearing in blackface in any setting, making any kind of reference to black stereotypes (unless you’re black) verboten, all these are the result of a frighteningly successful campaign of propaganda, indoctrination, and conditioning.
Let’s face it. Anybody can point to me, a white guy, and say, “That white boy has got no rythm and he sure sucks at basketball,” but any white person who says, “That black boy sure can dance and he plays great basketball,” will have his life ruined.
@Uncle Al — It’s true. This is the work of so-called “Institutional Racism” “”Theory””. Gobbled up — hook, line, sinker and boat! I know that if I sat here and thought about it long enough I could come up with a dozen examples of “hurtful” things representing prejudice against every single ethnic group and both genders and I could present an argument against every single kind of costume that was ever made. But I don’t have to. With the exception of white people (and I don’t know why it’s necessary to say “of European descent”), the Left has done all that work for us.
The Left wants everyone to celebrate their unique differences, but there’s hell to pay for doing so.
Black Face, or White Face, seems like one hell of a lot of effort to portray some one else of another skin color. Usually as a buffoon. What’s the point? Personally I think it’s stupid.
BB — My point is who should care whether you go to all that trouble or not?
I won’t defend something if it is truly sick or craven, but I just don’t see the this as being as depraved as the Left is making it out to be.
…I would never portray Aunt Jemima as a buffoon. I love Aunt J.
“My point is who should care whether you go to all that trouble or not?”
That’s a rather dynamic question considering current news events. Race relations are fr worse than they were back in the 80’s, 90’s, and the early, 2000. Libtards seem to think division gives them an advantage. Back to the current news cycle, Steve King just got raked over the coals, by his own party, for absolutely nothing. He was judged by the criteria the libtards have created. Turn abouts fair play. Burn Mr. Baby Killer to the ground. And any other vulnerable Democrat. And mean while, keep reminding everyone the the Democrats were the creators of the KKK. (Interestingly enough, I’ve run into a few Libtards that will present the argument that in 1969 the parties switched names, and so it was indeed the Republicans that started the KKK. At that point I tell them they’re to stupid to argue with and walk away.)
Personally I wouldn’t call a black man “Boy”. And quite honestly if someone called me “Boy” in that context it would get my hair up. I think the Black Face, White Face thing is disrespectful this day and age. Including 1984 when Northam pulled this stunt.
BB — I’m not defending Northam on his politics, but I am defending the right of free people to do just about anything they like if I also have the right to ignore it. The distinction I think is the Left won’t allow us to ignore their agitation. And that’s what they are, agitators, in the 1920’s/’30’s/’60’s sense. They’ve got everyone so spun up that you don’t have the option of minding your damn business anymore. All the media is controlled by the Left and social media is the worst. You’re an idiot if you post anything about yourself to it and expect them to leave you alone. You can’t even wear a hat or a tee shirt that expresses any views contrary to the Left for fear of a genuine, serious attack. It’s one thing to feel uncomfortable and quite another to be frightened into absolute silence. There’s no guarantee that all the people here at IOTW won’t be doxed by an overzealous Lefty who runs a server somewhere.
I do agree that the whole blackface thing or calling someone “boy” as a way of put down isn’t right. But I don’t want to go all Canada and England and make it a “hate” crime, either. If someone wants to be an ass, let them. But let me ignore them, too, okay? I had a boss once who often said, “You can’t legislate morality”, meaning people have to decide for themselves what constitutes a civilized society. Civility within a society is the result of people behaving decently toward each other because it’s proven to be better and because they want to, not because it’s the law.
I’m not disagreeing with what you say. I conduct myself differently now than I would back in the 80’s. But back in the 80’s we ALL laughed hysterically at this. Thanks Libtards.

PS
I took this way to serious as a young man.
““I won’t be wronged. I won’t be insulted. I won’t be laid a-hand on. I don’t do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”
Calm down, folks. The Left are keeping Gov. Northam comfortable while they make a decision.

There’s nobody excited here. We just having a damn discussion.
@Bad_Brad, I’m just playing on his words about keeping an infant “comfortable” while the mother and doctor discuss the outcome for the baby. I only meant it tongue-in-cheek.

OK, I got ya brother. We need to roast this bitch on his own fire.
Our number one charity is our local Crisis Pregnancy Center which is less than a quarter mile from a Planned Parenthood Gulag. We have volunteered, sponsered speeches from national apologists, and given thousands of dollars. We are in the fight, Brad.

I’ve posted this a couple times, but in case you missed it, I’ve historically been neutral on the issue. Captain Black face has recruited me, and my wife, into the ranks of the Right to Lifers.
Bad Brad, glad to know we are on the same team! Let’s fight!
