  2. The other day a monarch butterfly flew through my garden area as I watched from inside my kitchen. It didn’t wait around long enough for me to grab my phone (camera) to snap a photo. I haven’t seen on in a few years.

  3. I should have taken a photo of the thousands of carpenter ants I found chewing up the foundation of my garden shed a few weeks ago. I’ve spent many weekends since (and at least $1,000 in materials) replacing the perimeter beams, floor beams, wall studs and paneling.

  4. Jethro, I submitted a few monarch pictures for this week. Apparently I forgot to include the subject “critters.” Ahh well.

“Monarchs raised from eggs on milkweed, to caterpillars, to chrysalis, finally to butterflies. My 15 yr old son did the entire process from finding the eggs and raising the entire cycle. Only 3% of monarch eggs in nature will become butterflies. He did his part to help these beautiful critters population numbers, successfully raising and releasing 11 of them this summer.”

ecp!!!! Sorry, I forgot to say that there is going to be a part two. Had so many submissions, I couldn’t fit them all in. I especially wanted to show all four of your pictures, they are beautiful! Part Two will run on 9-18. – Claudia

  5. HI C and crew. 30 years back a tree 100 feet from my back door got hit by lightning. About a week later, one morning, it was covered with Monarch butterflies. They were gone the next day. The tree survived. I witnessed both events. Hoping to revisit that place again and see what that young tree then looks like now. ps. Also, for future note, it is not necessary to eat spiders. Just an FYI. pps. Don’t you forget about me and all dat. ppps. LYA

  6. Wendys is asking, “Where’s the bugs?” Meanwhile Arbys says, “We have the bugs!”. Not to be outdone, the WEF has a new ad campaign saying, “Bugs. It’s what’s for dinner.” And poor Bugs Bunny is saying, “Ehhhhh what’s up doc? Why is everyone all of the sudden so interested in me?”
