wynt -The name of the Vietnamese restaurant in a public building next to City Hall in Keene is a play on a type of soup, which is spelled P-H-O, but is pronounced “fuh.” The restaurant calls itself by the name of the soup, followed by the words “Keene Great.”
City Manager Elizabeth Dragon said it’s intended to sound like profanity and that owner Isabelle Jolie didn’t get permission to hang any sign.
Jolie said she doesn’t think the name is offensive.
First they came for “Pho Keen Great.”
And I said nothing.
Then they came for this place.
And that’s where I drew the line.
ht/ Wait for it
Shack of sit….🤣
Ya know, I’m not a prick, but I think signs like that a fooken stupid. I wouldn’t shop there. Imagine being surrounded by a bunch of fookin queers? May I push in your stool?
What about “Sofa King”?
Pushin Cushions
Lol!!
I was going to send that to you, Fur. But, i spaced it out. I think I was looking for my car keys, doing laundry, or something.
I’m guessing they also wouldn’t go for, Great Pho Keene. While normally not opposed to it.
Dup?
I thought we discussed this morning…
It’s a toss-up which of these signs I find most offensive:
DEMOCRATIC PARTY HEADQUARTERS
INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE
Well not exactly on the same line, but, I was at the gym tonight and there was this cute Asian Girl wearing a shirt, that I saw yesterday on knuckledragging, that said “I will not love you long time”. I guess it’s a thing.
The restaurant owner’s name is Isabelle Jolie. That doesn’t sound like a Vietnamese name. Maybe the real offense here is cultural appropriation??
