Buy that man his beer! – IOTW Report

Buy that man his beer!

DCN:
Wood TV reported Friday that last month a brave armed citizen “calmly” shot an armed robber multiple times for trying to rob a gas station called Stone Lake Marathon.

The incident reportedly happened on July 27 but surveillance video was not released until this past Friday.

The thug, 35-year-old Corelius Martin, entered the store boasting “you know why I’m here” and threatened the store owner with a box cutter before catching a hail of bullets.

The video starts off by showing the customer holding a six-pack of Miller Lite while Martin, who is dressed in black, walks in.

Martin then goes behind the counter and approaches the store clerk with the box cutter.

The customer, who has a valid concealed-carry permit, pulls out his handgun and fires six straight shots while holding his beer. He then fires one last bullet a moment later. More

  1. I never tire of reading these types of good guy stories.

@Brad: I saw a Butt Lite truck today. My first thought was “I wonder if the guy driving is gay?” And if I had the chance, I would ask where Mulvaney’s pic is on the truck. I bet the driver gets the butt of all jokes. 🙂

  2. Again one of my pet peeves: the anchors said the customer shot, but then said the “suspected” robber. Why do they declare the one took an action that could lead to criminal charges but the other was declared only to be a suspect of a criminal offense?

THAT HAS TO REMIND A LOT OF US OF DIRTY HARRY CALMLY KILLING BANK ROBBERS WITH HIS .44 WHILE EATING A HOT DOG

Irrelevant to your point, but my lasting memory of that movie is when he described his load he used in the gun. It was a weak .44 special load. So, technically, it was NOT the most powerful handgun in the world at the time. The gun’s possibilities? Yes. The load he said he used in it? Not at all. Far from what it was capable of.

Not even close. It was a “manageable” .44 special load so weak he could re-acquire the target quickly after each shot.

It’s like saying a .357 magnum pistol does so much particular damage, but the round actually used was a weak .38 special load.

Doesn’t matter what the gun is if a weak load is used in it. My 10mm being fed Federal weak-load 10mm ammo is truly the same as firing target 40sw ammo. What’s the point in having a 10mm if you’re not firing anything stronger than a regular 40sw?

Same with .357 vs .38 special from the same gun. One assumes more power with the higher caliber load. Don’t be fooled. Pay attention to the numbers.

I was eating lunch with a bunch of coworkers today.
Someone mentioned butt light. I almost said “Don’t you mean tranny fluid?” but I held my tongue.

HA! Yeah. Pick your battles. They aren’t all equal.

This might be one of those “nod” comments between like people.

Those who know, know. Those who don’t know… right over their heads. Just like it should be during the Apocalypse.

  5. “One would think this armed, vigilant citizen would be receiving a medal for his actions. Instead, he faces possible jail time.”

No shit. In California he would have already been found guilty. I’m thinking Michigan isn’t far behind Cali.
Was our man Mr Sixpaks life in danger? No. Did he use equal force? No. Did he give the pavement ape a chance to surrender? No. There’s a lot more I could list but those three will send him to the big house.
It’s a screwed up system. I would have given him the medal.

  6. “Dadof4, Sonny Crockett carried a Bren 10.
You ever fire one of those?”

Not many people have. It seems they had pretty good control of their supply chain when Miami Vice made their weapon famous for a couple weeks. Except for mags. They went tits up because they could not deliver. Decent gun. I’ll stick with a 1911 in 45 acp.

  7. I loved Miami Vice Brad and I remember a great Popular Mechanics issue that had all the cars, guns, and tech used on the show.
Had a section about the Bren 10.
It was pre-internet so I had been trying to figure out what he carried for quite a while.
I mean Rigg’s 92FS in Lethal Weapon was pretty easy to see.

Vice was hot when I got my first Sony BetaMax machine.
It was on Friday evenings so I always taped it.

  8. Miami Vice actually did a ton to push pistol comp to where it is today. With the help of a pistol wiz, a visionary, by the name of Jim Zubiena. He pioneered appendix carry. He also taught Don Johnson how to shoot A gun. Remember this? Yea, that’s him. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. But sometimes slow is just fucking slow.

  9. CJ, I had that issue as well. Thanks for finding it.
It was another issue that had tech, gadgets, and perhaps speed boats they used?
I think Don Johnson may have been on the cover as well?
Or perhaps a corner cut out?
    I was a subscriber so I had issues from 1977 – 1994 I think…
