The Mamas and The Papas
The Hollies
Hollies. Without a doubt.
Not seeing which Mamas and Papas tune. Hopefully it was California Dreaming. They win.
Does Graham Nash get extra credit for being in two of the bands so far? And what Brad said.
Only seeing one video available. I’ll lend an honest ear and vote when it’s posted.
Oh shit, here we go. Mr Pinko played key board for the Hollies. LOL
I love Carrie Ann, used to play it on 45 all the time
but where is Mammas and Pappas??
This is a tough one, it is almost unfair. Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty made magic together in the studio and the Hollies sang in gorgeous 3 part harmony. Since these two groups had the best singers in the world at the time, I need something else to tilt the scale. Let’s see. . . hmmm. Michelle Phillips would bed anyone who wore pants. John liked to diddle his pubescent daughter, introduced her to drugs, and should have been sent to prison. On the other hand, I read an interview with Graham Nash in which he said the Hollies had it down pat and could write a hit song effortlessly. It was so easy and he wanted better songs and bandmates, so he left. Well, it’s just that he was so much better than the Hollies. Self absorbed much, Graham? Some very unlikeable people who had a gift. I abstain.
As good as The Mamas and Papas were, The Hollies were still better. With three times as many great songs as the MP’s.
