Sweet spot at land use meeting to watch dustup over soda.
It’s an unlikely sentence perhaps never before written in the history of the English language: Monday’s land use committee meeting at the Board of Supervisors could be very, very interesting.
The usually nap-inspiring committee meeting will be the first time three pieces of legislation related to regulating soda and other sugary beverages in San Francisco will be discussed, and an eclectic array of people will be there to share their very firmly held opinions.
If you thought the fireworks over soda in San Francisco were over when voters defeated a tax on sugary drinks in November, think again.
The new, three-pronged package of legislation includes Supervisor Scott Wiener’s proposal — the first of its kind in the country — to require warning labels on all new soda advertising on city surfaces, including billboards, buses, transit shelters, posters and sports stadiums.
The label would read, “WARNING: Drinking beverages with added sugar(s) contributes to obesity, diabetes and tooth decay. This is a message from the City and County of San Francisco.” MORE
California is like Granola; take away the fruits and the nuts and all you have left are the flakes.
Why does anyone (who pays taxes) still live there?
Kalifornia is in heap big trouble money wise. And those effin knuckleheads have time to worry bout this shit? Maybe the state should go to a part time legislature, say 90 days every other year. Another thing: For every page of new regulations they should be required to wipe out 1,000 pages of old regulations.
I stopped drinking soda pop when they took out the cane sugar and replaced it with HFCS.
If it isn’t sugar cane it ain’t sugar

The same sluts that tell you “nobody has the right to tell me what to do with my body” when it comes to full term abortion believe they have the right to tell you what you can eat. F*** them!
@ Joan….extract HFCS from your diet and you lose weight and get off of many pills that you don’t need…..then you can salt your food like we need it….cuz salt is good….and have what you damn well like to eat….careful with the pastries though…sensible amounts…
