Politico

The U.S. Capitol complex has been locked down after reports of gun shots at the Capitol Visitors Center. Capitol officials said that one Capitol police officer has been shot, although not seriously, and the shooter was in custody, according to the Associated Press.

Shortly after a notice of a lockdown of the Capitol was sent, officials announced over the Hill public address system that there had been a shooting. In an email alert, the Senate sergeant-at-arms said that gunshots had been reported and the complex was ordered to shelter in place.
