Car crashes are contributing to climate change, a senior representative of the auto industry told lawmakers Wednesday.

“The Federal Highway Administration estimates that 12.5 percent of congestion, 3 million metric tons [of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions], is directly attributable to crashes,” said Mitch Bainwol, president and CEO of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. “Thus, there is a direct link between reducing crashes and reducing CO2 emissions,” which many scientists say is the cause of manmade climate change.

  1. Here’s your 98% scientific fact:

Mitchell Burt Bainwol is a political lobbyist who currently serves as the current chairman of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers

    Next!

  2. Just like “Cash for Clunkers”, who gets hurt the most by this? The poor. Making crash avoidance technology mandatory instead of optional will increase the cost of cars. Next they’ll pull a cash for clunkers claiming that you have to get outdated cars that don’t have the technology off the road–again destroying the used car market and hurting the poor.

    Progressives suck.

  3. Personally, I think the oral gases spewed by libtards are very noxious and harmful to the health of not just the environment, but the country as a whole.
    Address THAT, why don’t ya?
Maybe some kind of permanent muffler device…

  4. OK. How much air is there on Earth?

Would you believe 6.0535 e+15 tons?

    e+9 is a Billion
    e+12 is a Trillion
    e+15 is a Quadrillion

So, 3 million tons sounds like a lot to the innumerate, but that’s 3 e+6.
So, that amounts to ~5 e-8 percent.
    0.00000005 percent.
Or 1/20 of a Millionth of 1 percent.
CO2 makes up about 0.04% ordinarily.

    Give me a fucking break.

Got nothing serious to worry about?

  5. Maybe we don’t need all kinds of technology to save us from ourselves, we just need to pay fcuking attention.

I stumbled upon a fresh wreck last week, sunny day, warm, dry roads, etc. It was at a three way intersection for Walmart, I go through it at least once a day. As I drove by, I couldn’t make heads or tails of how the 2 cars collided. People were out walking around, it didn’t look like there were any major injuries, so I piped up as I drove by. Good work!

    If looks could kill.
